Chapter 1 - Meetings & Beginnings
DISCLAIMER!!!- A Pro-Orihime story. I donât own Bleach, but I own Shanna.
It was a clear, blue day. Thin clouds crawled across the sky. A tall, thin girl of 24 looked at those clouds, caramel eyes mournful. The wind picked up stands of her long brown hair and sounds of argument as well. She groaned, âDonât they ever stop?â For the past five years, all her parents ever seemed to do was argue, no matter who was there. She looked out to the fields, the tall grass golden and flowing, mind wandering. But then, out of the corner of her eye, she spotted something move. Something white. As she looked closer, the white thing turned out to be a man in a long white coat, holding a map. âHeh, poor guyâs probâly lost,â she thought. She looked back toward the house, but, as expected, her parents were still arguing. âI wonât be needed for awhile, lemme go help him...âÂ
âStupid Aizen-sama,â Gin Ichimaru thought bitterly, frowning at a homemade map. âHis directions are so confusinâ, I feel like Iâve been walkinâ in circles.â But then, breaking his thoughtsâ¦
âOhayo! Ya need help, Misuta-san?â
Gin looked up to see a brown haired girl in jeans and a black T-shirt waving and walking toward him. He quickly put on a smile.
âOhayo! Yeah, couldja help me out?â
The girl looked at the map. âWhoever drew this did NOT know how to give decent directions. Thereâs at least an extra ten miles on here! Here, lemme just give ya a ride toâ¦â¦Takatani Ramenya! Gawd, that has to be the best place evah!â
âRealleh? Thatâs great, then. I gotsta pick up sum orders, and it wouldâve realleh suck if the food wasnât good.â
ââGood?! Itâs the BEST!â the girl threw her arms in the air as they walked toward the house. âOh, by the way, whatâs ya name?â Gin was taken back by the directive-ness and randomness of this question, but he recovered quickly. âIchimaru Gin, my dear girl, may I ask yours?â Gin replied, putting on an air of politeness in order to throw her off. It worked. ââ¦Erm, Murasuki Shanna, atcha service.â Shanna said with a mock-British accent, bowing clumsily and pretending to tip an invisible hat. Both burst out laughing at the stupidity of it all. They reached the back deck. âWell, câmon inside. I hafta let my folks know Iâm leavinâ first. Runninâ AWOL is kinda rude âround hereâ¦â âBut what is this guy really up to?â Shanna thought suspiciously to herself. âHeâs got the smile oâ a content fox, yet I get the feelinâ that this ainât no innocent cub. Hmm, maybe, jusâ maybeâ¦â she shook herself mentally, âWe jusâ gotta see,â âMom! Dad! I gotta go now!â
As Shanna left to talk to her parents, Gin was left to look around the house. There were a many multicultural objects, and pictures of three people, an older couple with a younger Shanna. âMusta traveled a lot.â Then Gin noticed something that struck him as odd. âThat womanâ¦â he picked up a photo with a young Shanna and an elderly woman with small, square glasses, âshe looks familiarâ¦â Then suddenly the surrounding spiritual pressure rose quickly. âDamn, a hollow, here? Thatâs no good.â Gin ran towards the room Shanna was in when-
KA-KRASH!!!
The roof had crumbled down as a large cobra-like hollow had come down, eating the soul of an elderly man, as three bodies lay motionless on the floor. Not far from Shannaâs body, Shannaâs soul looked at the monster in horror. âWhatâs goinâ on? Where did that monster come from?â then she looked in surprise at her new outfit, a black shihakushÅ and a sword on her belt. âWhere did I get these things? And this sword? I dunno, but I gotta fight!â unsheathing a four-foot katana, Shanna charged at the cobra, which was just turning its attention on her. Then a voice spoke; âIkorose, Shinso.â A blade extended over Shannaâs left shoulder and split the cobraâs mask on two. But instead of blood spilling, as Shanna expected, the hollow slowly vaporized into nothing. Shanna turned to Gin as he sheathed his sword. âDid you jusâ..?â
âYep, I got rid of it.â
ââ¦So what happens now?â
âThereâs nuthinâ we can do here, regular humans canât see us soul reapers.â
âSoul reap-. Wait, whaddya mean âregular humans canât see usâ? I saw you!â
âYes, because ya have to ability to see ghosts.â
ââ¦So, Iâm like, a ghost now too, or sumthinâ?â
âYep, you could say that.â
âAnd thatâs my dead body over there.â
âYeah, pretty much.â
Shanna thought this over. âOK, this is totally weird. Iâm a disembodied soul. This guy just saved my @$$. And he kinda does fit one of the two prophecies Obaasan gave meâ¦what do I do?â âIchimaru-san.â
âYeah?â
âI owe you.â
Gin just stared. âWhat? Why do ya owe me? All I did was jusâ get rid of that hollow.â
âYeah, and you just saved my soul, no pun intended. I wonât just let my debt go unpaid, even if it means servitudeâ¦â
ââ¦Well, I gotsta talk to Aizen-sama âbout that, but we still need to go to Takatani Ramenya first, then weâll go to Huecto Mundo to see if you can stay. But, realleh, you donât hafta make it up to me.â But Shanna waved this away as they walked out of the house and down the street. âNo, I insist. I was moving tomorrow anyways, so it doesnât matter. The rest of my relatives are dead, and Iâm single so I donât hafta worry that much about who Iâm leavin behindâ¦â Shanna stopped, shaking, trying to control her emotions, ââ¦I have no-where else to go, I donât know what else to do! Youâre thâ only one I can turn to, Ichimaru-san, a man I barely even know!â
Shanna was about to say something else when a large, white monarch butterfly flew between them. âIchimaru, have you gotten our orders yet?â said a manâs cool voice. âNeh, sumthinâ came up.â Shannaâs jaw dropped. âAAAH!! TALKING DEMON BUTTERFLY!!!â
*sweat drop* âUmâ¦â âAizen-sama, this is Murasuki Shanna. Shanna-chan, Aizen-samaâs, umâ¦voice.â
âYour boss is a butterfly?!?â
ââ¦No, we use butterflies to communicate long-distance.â
âLike cell phones?â
âYeah! Like cell phones.â
âOK! I get it.â
âEnough introductions, Gin, why is a soul reaper here?â
âWell, at first she was jusâ a human that was gonna give me decent directions, then a hollow attacked, ate her parents, and apparently turned her into a soul reaper.â
âHas she been to the Soul Society yet?â
âThe what?â
ââ¦Apparently not. Well, it would be best to have another one of us on our sideâ¦â
Shanna perked up at Aizenâs words. âRealleh? I can stay with ya guys?â
âI donât see why not.â
âAwesome!â Shanna jumped ecstatically. âMy stuffâs already in da car, so after we pick up ya orders, itâs off toâ¦â Shanna froze in mid-dance, âsay, where are we goinâ, anyway?â
âHuecto Mundo, Murasuki-chan, and we donât use cars. We soul reapers travel much differently.â
âOh. So how are we gonna get there?â
âYouâll see, but first, letâs get your baggage.â The butterfly fluttered over to the blue Suzuki. âIs this your car?â
âSure is, Aizen-sama.â
ââ¦Whereâs your baggage?â
âAH, theyâre in the trunk. Hold on a minute.â Shanna went over to the driverâs side, opened the door, and popped the trunk.
âInteresting,â the butterfly âsaidâ, âthatâs all it takes?â
ââ¦Yeahâ¦â Shanna replied while opening the trunk and removing three large suitcases, âHavenât ya ever driven a car before, Aizen-sama?â
âNo, we donât have any in the spirit world. Actually, we know very little about the human world at all.â Shanna gave him a funny look. âWhat?â
âNuthinâ, nuthinâ. Guess Iâm gonna hafta teach ya, thatâs allâ
âWell, that would be helpful, I believe. Is this everything?â
âYep.â
âAlright. Gin, I sent Ulquiorra to get our orders, so you can bring Murasuki-chan straight to Huecto Mundo. I will see you there.â
âAlrighty then. Lemme get that for ya.â Gin grabbed a bag while Shanna held the other two. Gin seemed to randomly poke the air, but then a small grayish dot appeared. It grew into a large portal. Inside showed white sands, a clear night sky, and a large crescent moon. Gin wore an expectant smile; Shanna squared her shoulders. âWell, no turninâ back now.â
