Kai wished he could just be swallowed up by the floor below him. He hadn't seen Emma since 3 years ago, when they had made their mutual break up because they both wanted to go and become beybladers. As the time passed, he realised he could barely stand to be away form her. But it was too late; she was far away from him by then. He had spent the last 3 agonising years trying to get her out of his mind and had only forgotten about her just before he met Gilraen and Team Darkness. And now, here she was, in London. He could barely stand this. He looked up at her. Her hair was shorter than it had been, a lot shorter. She was still as beautiful as she had been before though. Those eyes. That smile. It brought back too many awful memories for Kai. Tysons voice brought him out of his trance.
“Who are you? And how do you know Kai?”
Kai could tell that Emma was just as uncomfortable as he was. To his horror, Gilraen pulled out a chair.
“Sit down.” Emma sat, still looking as uncomfortable as Kai felt.
“So,” Gilraen began, “Im Gilraen, from Team Darkness. Do you beyblade?”
“Oh yes, ive heared of you! You won the second Russian tournament! Yes, I beyblade. I tried to start my own team, but we were unsuccessful.”
Gilraen seemed interested by this. “Wow, you should join our team!”
“Well we are having try-outs for the team tomorrow, if you would like to come.” Said Donna, rather bitterly, shooting Gilraen a look. She gave Emma a flyer.
“Ok then. Ill be there!”
Tyson was getting impatient. “Enough about this! Tell us how you know Kai!”
Emma went back to looking uncomfortable. She glanced over at Kai.
“Im his ex-girlfriend.” The reaction was so funny, Kai could've laughed. But the situation was too serious to laugh about.
“What?!” Exclaimed Tyson. Rei, Max and Donnas heads shot up form the magazine. Kenny looked up from his laptop.
“I cant believe this!” Kenny said, loudly.
“Chief, keep your voice down!” said Kai, sternly.
“Why didn't you tell us, Kai?” said Rei, trying not to laugh. “This is so weird! I always thought you didn't like girls!”
“Rei!” Kai was getting uncomfortable again. “Be quiet!”
There was a few moment silence, then Emma got up.
“I think I'm going to go back to my hotel.”
Gilraen got up, “I could walk you there if you like. Id like to talk to you about your beyblading skills.”
“Oh, ok! If you don't mind.” Emma picked up her hand bag. “It was nice meeting you guys. Bye, Kai.”
Kai grunted. Gilraen and Emma left the café. Donna sighed.
“Whats wrong, Donna?” asked Max.
“Gilraen promiced that we would go over the tryouts this afternoon.”
“Don't worry, im sure she just forgot.” Said Rei in his comforting voice. Donna sighed again.
Three hours later, Gilraen returned to the house. Kai heared her come upstairs and go into her room, where Donna was waiting for her. Kai heared their voices and leaned in, listening through the wall of his room, which joined with hers.
“Donna, I have to tell you something-!”
“You've been gone for hours-”
“I saw some of Emmas beyblading skills and I think we should let her join the team!”
“What?”
“I think we should let Emma join the team.”
“Without the try-outs?”
“We can still have the try outs for a fourth member, but I really think Emma is a good decision!”
“And you made this decision without me? I thought you said we were going to decide together.”
“Oh come on, Donna! I am the team captain after all and what I say goes, so I say she can join the team!”
There was a pause. Kai waited to hear Donnas reply.
“Ok, fine.” She sounded upset. “But she stays with you.” She walked towards the door, opened it and turned to face Gilraen. “You've changed, Gilraen.”
Kai heared her walk past his room, into hers, which was on the other side of his room. A split second later, Gilraen stomped in.
“I cant believe Donna! How can she say that to me? She has no idea what ive been through! If I want Emma to join the team, its my decision, right?”
“Er, right.” Said Kai.
“Good, at least you understand!” Gilraen walked out again. But Kai was on Donnas side. He felt that letting Emma join their team and come and live with them was a bad idea.
