The following day, Gilraen and Donna were avoiding eachother. Max and Rei were trying to convince them to talk to each other, and that they would have to in order to do the tryouts. They agreed to talk for that day, but every remark they made, they made in a bitter voice, not looking at the other person. The blade breakers would be going to watch the tryouts and to help decide for good beybladers. They all piled into the land rover taxi. Donna, Max and Rei got in first and sat in the back. Then Tyson, Kenny and Gilraen got in the middle. Kai sat in the passenger seat. On the way they picked Emma up. Since she was the new blader on the team, she had to be there for the tryouts aswell. She sat next to Gilraen in the middle. Kai didn't look round. He still felt uncomfortable. The tryouts were outside and there were direction posters all around. When they arrived, they set up. The taxi had been payed by Mr. Dickenson to stay with them. They decided to record everything, so that they could go and figure out who was the best and call them. Everyone had given their phone number on the résumé sheet. Also there were news cameras there, showing the tryouts live all over the world. There was a judges table, there Gilraen, Donna and Emma would sit, Gilraen in the middle as she is the team captain. Then there were 2 other tables, on the one nearest the judges sat Rei, who was holding the video camera, Kai, who would help decide the best blader and Kenny, who was uploading data on each one. The next table was for Max and Tyson. They started the tryouts at half twelve. There were queues a mile long with desperate bladers, most girls but some boys aswell. Tyson and Max' job was to keep everyone in line and stop fights if any should break out. The queues were indoors and then they would come outside. The reason Donna and Gilraen wanted to do it this way was because they didn't want the people to see what was happening so that they could use it to their advantage. That would be cheating. When everyone was seated, Gilraen announced to the news camera that they were starting. The news presenter started the intros. “And here we are in London! The place where you can come try out for one of the best teams in the world. Here we are at the tryouts! I am understood that there are tryouts for one team member now instead of two, as Team Darkness have got themselves a new team member already! Heres the team, Gilraen the captain, Donna and Emma. And, oh my gosh! The blade breakers are here aswell! Here we have Rei, Kai and Kenny. And over there I see Tyson and Max! wow, this is bound to be good! Lets see shall we?” As he finished, Gilraen announced for Max to bring in the first person. She was a shy, young looking girl. Max handed the résumé over to Gilraen. Gilraen looked at it. “So, you've been in your own team that was in a tournament, but then lost in the fourth round, correct?” “Erm, yes.” Said the girl, timidly. Gilraen looked up at her. “Right then. Lets see what you can do.” The girl stepped up to the dish and got out her beyblade. Kai stepped up on the other end. The girl looked petrified as nobody on the team had ever mentioned that the people would be opposing Kai. “Don't worry.” Said Emma in a comforting voice, “He wont hurt you.” Donna grunted. She had made it quite clear that she didn't like Emma much, especially for taking Gilraen away from her. The girl and Kai launched their blades, but it was obvious that the girl was scared and the battle was over in three minutes. Gilraen sighed. “Thank you for coming. Please exit over there.” Emma frowned. “Well done, you did well.” She said to the girl as she walked past. “Thank you.” An hour later, they had seen twenty one people, which meant there were only eighty five left to go. Each person had only got worse and it was a disaster. Then for the first time in an hour, the first person who looked promising stepped up, with Tyson, who handed the resume over to Emma. He was a very good looking boy of around seventeen years of age. Emma gaped at him and he seemed to have taken notice of her aswell. He blushed as she gazed. “Come on!” said Donna, sharply. “Er, oh yeah.” Emma snapped back to Earth “So, his name is Dan and he's won a tournament before. Wow.” “Good.” Said Gilraen. “Now, step up to the dish.” Still looking at Emma, he walked up to the dish, where Kai was waiting. Dranzer was already spinning in the dish. He launched his blade, but Kai could tell he was distracted as he had a powerful blade, but he wasn't using its power as well as he could. Kais beyblade spun back and he caught it. Dan looked at him. “Wha-?” “Come on!” Kai interrupted him. “Whats wrong? Why aren't you battling properly? You have potential, so use it!” “Hey!” Emma stood up behind the table. “Don't yell at him, he's doing the best he can!” Donna automatically stood up for Kai out of spite. “No he isn't! Hes getting distracted!” Emma glared at her, “Well Kai didn't have to yell at him!” “Whats going on?” said Rei from behind the camera. Kai and Dan looked at eachother, then at the girls. Gilraen stood up. “That's enough! Stop yelling, its stupid! Now, Kai launch your blade and Dan try to focus!” They once again, launched their blades. Kai did beat Dan, but Dan was heaps better than the other opponents so far. Emma seemed very impressed.
