6 - Chapter 6
Emma stomped down the stairs with her hair messed up, odd socks and a skirt and top that didn't match. “Kai!” Kai spun round. Lauris head popped out from behind him. She had a cold, evil grin on her face. Cold and evil. Emma glared at her. “Kai.” She said, calmly. “I need to speak to you.” She beckoned him to the stairs. “Kai, what are you doing? You know I can't stand her!” “Look, if I want to go with her, that's my choice.” Kai said coolly, leaning against the wall. Emma grabbed his arm and pulled him down. “Ow!” She dropped her voice to a whisper. “You break up with her. You have to.” Emma had pulled him towards her, so now their faces were almost touching. Kai remained calm. “You've decided to date, so why cant I?” He was also whispering. Emma let a lot of air out of her mouth at once, making an “uh!” sound. She let him go. He stood up again. She stood up next to him. “Are you telling me that you're doing this because I've found somebody else?! Kai, get over it!” “It doesn't always have to be about you!” Kai snapped back. He was getting angry now. He wasn't sure why. It was probably because he knew she was right and she was figuring everything out. “Maybe I just like Lauri.” “You can't mean that!” “Well I do!” Kai turned on his heel and strode away, leaving Emma standing on the stairs, gaping after him. He walked back into the living room. “What happened?” asked Gilraen, who was watching TV with Kenny and Max, who was finally awake. Tyson was eating breakfast. Kai joined Lauri at the table and they too both began to eat. “Nothing.” Kai sighed. He cleared a space on the table and started eating some toast. The table was cluttered with empty bowls and cerial packets. Tyson looked up from his cerial. He scanned the room, suspiciously. “Someone's missing…Hang on, where's Rei?” Gilraen stood up from the couch. She turned around, “Yeah, and where's Donna? I haven't seen her all morning!” They had looked all over the house and had not been able to find Donna and Rei. Then Emma finally emerged and pointed out that they were in the garden. They had gone from sitting on the patio, to beybattling. “Drigger, go!” “Danta, defend, now!” Reis blade smashed into hers, but Dantas good defend sent them both flying into eachothers hands. Rei smiled. “Good match.” Gilraen watched in amazement as Donna smiled back. She didn't see Donna smile often. After all, she was the shy one, whos face always indicated that she was depressed. They both walked around the dish until they were right in front of eachother. They gave eachother back their blades. He was a lot taller than her, but it didn't seem to matter. Gilraen thought they looked good together, even though he was a foot taller than her. They appeared to be talking, but Gilraen couldn't catch the words they were saying. She suddenly realised that she wasn't the only one watching them. She jumped in alarm as she heard a deep sigh behind her. Kai was leaning casually against the window on the side wall. She suddenly became aware of how pathetic she looked, so she turned and walked off, just in time to miss the kiss. Kai saw it though. He gazed on. He knew what was happening. It didn't take a genius to figure it out. But he hoped that it would interfere with Reis blading skills. This could also effect the friendship that the Blade Breakers had with Team Darkness. Kai took Gilraens silent advice and left them to it. He could worry about Rei and Donna later. For now, he had enough on his mind: like who kidnapped Gilraen and what he was going to do to her. And even, why he was going out with Lauri. That evening, when Kai came down for a snack in the night, he didn't expect for there to already be somebody there.
