Chapter 5
In her silent thoughts she worried about what excuses she would have to give her dad, and how long it would take before… no… Sid sighed and shook her head to clear her thoughts. There was no really need to worry about that now.
It was getting pretty late. She glanced at Zim who was tapping on some of his strange equipment. She didn’t really care what it was. Actually she didn’t understand anything of the strange stuff down in Zim’s base. And Zim liked it that way, because he refused to explain anything to her.
Now she sat on the floor, leaning on the wall, and was not allowed to walk around or touch anything… which didn’t leave her much choice.
Sid shivered slightly and hid her hands in her long sleeves. It was pretty cold down there.
She gave Gir a look beside her as he rolled on the floor, jabbering about…something. She didn’t care enough to make an effort to try and understand what the hell he was doing.
She made a small frown. “I’m tired!” she whined. When Zim completely ignored her she snatched one of Gir’s little rubber piggies and threw it at him. It hit his head with a small “squeek”-sound. He looked up and blinked once before he turned around.
“What is it??!!” he asked annoyed.
“I’m tiiireeed!!”
“So..??”
Sid pouted. “Don’t you ever sleep?”
Zim just laughed at her. “HAH! Zim needs no weak…..sleep!!” he spat as he shook a fist. Then he turned back to his work. Sid’s shoulders dropped and she rolled her eyes. She waited. He looked up again and gave her a strange look. “Then sleep on the floor!”
“What? But it’s… hard and cold!” Sid frowned again. Zim hit himself on the forehead and gritted his teeth slightly. “Nngh… FINE! Go upstairs and sleep on the couch or something…” He waved her off with one hand. “…you humans and your… weakness!! It’s ridiculous how….”
But Sid didn’t stay for the end of that sentence. With a dramatic sigh of resignation she stepped into the elevator, taking the short moment before she reached the house, to think over her situation.
Strangely enough, the first thought that reached her head was: “I’m not afraid of death...”
It was not like her to be such a pessimist. But still… something inside her told her…”Get real… you can’t survive this…” Without noticing she touched the wristband on her left arm. She was up, and stepped out from the elevator. Then she felt how the paralyzing feeling of exhaustion filled her and all she wanted now was to sleep, sleep and sleep. The thought of just opening the door and run, only hit her for a brief second, before she fell right on the couch and fell asleep as soon as her head touched the pillow.

The piercing strange sound of the doorbell screeched into her brain and she forced her eyes open. Her head hurt. A lot. Cringing she sat up and gave the room a quick glance. No sight of Zim or Gir. The doorbell rang again. Sid found herself sitting and staring at the door without any clue what to do. She stood up and blinked a couple of times before she went in to the kitchen, without really knowing why. She stood there with her eyebrows wrinkled and turned and walked back again. The doorbell continued to ring, before someone started to knock heavily at the door. She stared dumbfounded at it.
“ZIIIIIIM!!! THERE’S SOMEONE AT THE DOOOOOOOOOOOOR!!!” she then yelled at the top of her voice.
Everything was silent for a couple of seconds before she heard the voice outside. “Sid? Is that you?”
Sid stared at the door again with huge eyes. “Dib….oh no, crap! What do I do now?” she thought and jumped up and down on the spot. Dib just banged at the door. “Sid! What have that monster done to you!! Speak to meeeee!!”
Sid frowned and walked up to the door and opened it. “Um…hello….”
He stared at her. “What are you doing in Zim’s house?” he asked confused. Sid shifted her eyes slightly. “Heh…well it’s a funny story….”
“…”
“Yes?”
“”Well…. I…um…I work here…” she finally said with a smile. Dib narrowed one eyebrow. “Work? You work for Zim? The alien who wants to destroy all man-kind? WHY?
Small sweat-drops started to appear on her forehead. “Destroy mankind? What gives you that idea? Heh-heh… I…uuh…cook his food….
“You cook his ALIEN FOOD? ARE YOU AN ALIEN TOO?!!”
“What? NO!! Did I say food? I meant…clothes…I cook…uuh…makes his clothes…”
“Oh…you mean his UGLY ALIEN UNIFORM CLOTHES??” Dib shouted. Sid started to get really nervous and glanced after Zim. She didn’t know what to do or say. Didn’t know what would happen if she told him the truth….
“NO! I mean…I…clean his house…!! Yeah that’s right!!” she said with a big grin.
Dib narrowed his eyes suspiciously. “And … you don’t happen to have seen an alien base anywhere have you?”
“Alien what? Oh nono… I haven’t been anywhere but in this living room and the kitchen…”
There was a small silence before he sighed. “Well….I don’t think it’s such a good idea if you’re staying in his house… It could be very dangerous…unless…he hasn’t done anything to you yet have he?” he looked her over. “You don’t feel… strange or anything?”
“No… I feel fine…”
“Not like your missing any organs?”
“No…”
“You can control your limbs okay…?”
“Yes!”
He stared at her for a few seconds. “Okay… seems alright. But I want you to leave his house now!” he said and reached out an arm after her. Sid backed away a step a bit confused. “What did you want with Zim?”
He shrugged. “The normal… I just now he’s up to something big this time… he keeps having this look…”
Sid rolled his eyes slightly. “Save it…I just need to get…something first…”
“Okay…I’m coming with y….”
“NO!!!” she screamed in Dib’s face and he stopped with a surprised look. Sid grinned. “Hehe…I mean… I can get it myself… maybe it’s just better if you stay here…outside….” She said, and before he had time to object, she slammed the door in his face.
While alone and inside again, Sid clamped her hands together nervously and ran over to the elevator. “Okay….how do you start this thing…??” she began, but it opened by itself. Sid stepped inside and swallowed nervously as she went downstairs.
She looked around after Zim as she walked out. It didn’t take long before she heard his voice not far from where she was, and followed it.
She stopped a bit from him and made huge eyes to what she saw. Zim was standing before a large monitor and talked to two other aliens. She narrowed her eyes when she looked at them. They seemed to be the same race as Zim, only a lot taller. They looked at Zim with bored eyes. One of them with red, and the other one with purple. She stepped forward, a bit anxious that Dib would break in and come looking for her.
“Um… Zim?” she whispered at him.
“So you see my Tallest… another great victory from ZIM! And it won’t take long before….”
“Who is that?” The purple one asked and pointed.
Zim blinked and turned. He frowned. “Sid what are you DOING here? I TOLD you not to interrupt me when I….”
“Dib is here…”
He got quiet. “DIB? Are you insane you horrible…excuse me my tallest, this might take a while…” he said to the two aliens on the monitor. They just waved with their hands. “Please take more time than you need!” The red one said, and then cut the transmission.
Zim turned back to Sid. “Now will you care to explain why aren’t upstairs, sitting and in a corner, filled with DESPAIR over your doomed destiny?”
“I told you…. The doorbell rang and I opened and….” She started, but Zim cut her off.
“YOU LIE!! If there was anyone by the door, my computer would have told me so! Isn’t that right computer?”
It was quiet.
“Computer!! Answer me!!”
“Nnngghh….whaaaat?” came a bored voice.
“Now, is there or is there not someone at the door?” Zim asked with the conviction that the answer would be No.
“Yes…”
Zim’s eyes grew large. “WHAT? Why didn’t you inform me??” he yelled.
“I didn’t want to!!” the computer said stubbornly like a little kid. Zim gritted his teeth. Sid just giggled a bit but was cut off by a horrible pain that struck through her body. She screamed and fell to the floor, smoke coming up from her.
“Are you saying that Dib is up there by the door?” Zim asked her as she got up from the floor.
“Uuhhuum…yes!”
“And what did he want?”
Sid doubted for a second. “He wanted me to leave with him.” She said, rubbing her left wrist with a grimace.
Zim looked away for a second before a wide devilish grin spread across his face.
“Excellent…”
A/U: Hahahahaah! XDDDDD YAY! Another chapter done…. With Zim acting like mister Burns… who doesn’t love that??
Dib: I don’t….
