I awoke in a dimly lit room, with two pairs of eyes blinking down at me. I shook my head dizzily, wondering where I was. Suddenly the owner of the silvery eyes approached me, and I was able to focus my surroundings. This man had very sharp features, deathly pale skin, and there was and odd rosy color to his cheeks. Then I remembered, this was Odin. A vampire. He kneeled down, and looked at me closely. “shoot. She’s still alive,” He whispered, resting one hand on my neck to find my pulse. “But her heartbeat seems normal, anyway.” Then he sighed, turning to the man with the golden eyes. Damien. “God, Damien.” He said, “It must have been your offer that kept her alive.” Damien flipped his hair backward, smiling. He had apparently changed clothing since I last saw him. Now he was wearing a long glittering gold kimono. I smiled hesitantly back at him, unsure why I was still alive. “Because I made a deal with you.” He said, answering a question I had only asked in my head. “What kind of deal?” I asked, genuinely confused. Damien just nodded his head, smirking. “I saved your life with my magic, and in exchange, you must stay here and become my servant.” I gaped at him. “I didn’t agree to anything like that!” He looked over at Odin, as if signaling him in some way. Odin stood up, and explained slowly, “Damien is a dragon, and he has the ability to heal the injured with his magic. Of course, being as greedy as he is, he generally demands payment in the form of servitude. Usually the person would have to engage in a verbal contract, but because he liked you so much, he just cast a spell on you immediately after I bit you.” I looked over at Damien, his head bobbing up and down in affirmation. “And this mark around your neck is proof of the contract.” He jerked one of his fingers forward, and suddenly a glowing pattern floated before my eyes. A golden dragon, twirling in the air before me. Then he snapped his fingers, and the dragon wrapped itself around my neck, flattening itself against my skin. Odin handed me a small mirror, careful to avoid looking into it, and I stared at my reflection. There was now a shining tattoo of a dragon on my neck that wound all the way around the length of it. It began at my collar bone and ended slightly below my chin. Damien snapped his fingers once again, and the tattoo became a solid gold collar. A chain leash began to appear and connect itself to the collar. The links latched onto one another and extended to meet Damien’s hand. He continued to smile at me. “Hopefully I won’t have to use this as a restraint. You won’t run away, correct? Because if you try, this chain will always come back to me. I can’t have you going off and telling people about us, you see.” I scowled at him. Suddenly Odin was seeming a whole lot nicer. “Fine, but I think I should know a little bit about those whom I’ll be serving” I said. Damien chuckled. “Very well.” He said, “Obviously, I’m Damien, a dragon, and your master. Also,” he said, gesturing toward Odin, “This is Odin. He is my friend, and you will obey his orders as well, with only one exception. You may not give him blood. You needn’t know the reason why, but if he ever tries to attack you, just call my name and I will appear wherever you are.” Odin snorted from the corner of the room. He mumbled something that sounded like, “You’re certainly showing a whole lot of confidence in me, aren’t you?” Then Odin put on a pair of large sunglasses and flipped the light switch on. The room seemed to be a small bedroom with modest furnishings that only hinted at expensive origins. Damien let go of the chain lead, and it disappeared immediately, as did the heavy weight around my neck.
