Chapter 3

The next morning, Dan laid on his bed staring up to the wood and vine covered ceiling. He held his Chaos Emerald up to his face. “What was that that happened last night…Did I really make whatever that was? That flash…it seemed…familiar.” Dan had another flash in his mind. But this one didn’t hurt him. It was…Shadow. His other ‘so called friend.’ Shadow was the only chance he had left for love. “Shadow could do Chaos Control…Maybe I can find him…if he’s still alive…But where would I look? Where could he have gone after the impact?” Dan thought…he would have to look for Shadow on his own. He didn’t have any food or shelter to take with him…he could find some berries and maybe a cave or other shelter on his journey. He got up from his bed and walked outside. He stared at the lake with the sun beaming down through the trees. A flicky bird flew up into the branches. He turned around and looked at his house he put so much work into making. “I never really belonged here anyway…let alone anywhere else.” Dan said to himself. He lowered his eyelids and walked off, starting his journey to find his only hope…Shadow the Hedgehog…

Later that day, Dan found himself in a luscious garden like area. The ground was checker boarded and filled with grass, flowers and palm trees. The area was filled with hills and overlooked a beautiful blue lake. This brought joy to Dan’s heart as he felt the sunshine on his face. The overwhelming beauty of this place eased his troubled mind. He ran through the area like wind. He spotted a loopdeloop shaped hill. “Hey, that looks like fun!” Dan shouted aloud as he approached the loop. “Yeaaahhhh!” Dan went all the way around the loop, as it tickled his stomach. “Ha ha! That was awesome! He ran off for a little longer until something up in the sky caught his attention. “What’s that?” Dan squinted his eyes at a large structure in the sky. It seemed small, but was getting closer every minute. “*gasp!*” Dan realized what it was. It was the space colony ARK! Along with 2 dashing lights, the space colony ARK was coming closer into crashing down on the earth. “No, it can’t be…” Dan felt like it was going to be impossible to get rid of his troubles. Now he was about to be crushed by one of the many things that haunted him. One of the bright lights disappeared. As that had happened, a huge flash lit up the sky. It seemed like the world was coming to an end. Dan shielded his eyes from the blinding light. “Kuu!” The light overwhelmed him. He passed out from exhaustion.

A few hours later, Dan came to his senses. It was now darkness that was night in Green Hill Zone. “Uh, what happened…wa-was that a dream? My mind is playing tricks on me…I just want to forget…” Dan was sad and mad at himself. “Stupid ARK…I couldn’t care less…I couldn’t care about you Maria.” A small light appeared around Dan as he took a deep breath, trying to relax himself. His stomach grumbled once he calmed down. “Ugh, I’m hungry…” He looked around and saw a palm tree with fruits in them. “Oh, that looks good!” He went over and started to shake the tree. A fruit fell off onto his head. “Ow, he he. Ah, it didn’t hurt that much.” Dan laughed at himself, picking the fruit up. It was about as big as his head. “Wow, pretty light for such a big fruit.” He bit into it as it’s juices squished out from where he bit. “Mmmmm…good though. Very good.” 10 minutes later, Dan finished his dinner. “Ah, I feel a lot better. Better get going.” Now with a full stomach, Dan decided to get back onto his journey…you can’t find love just sitting around…
