Rei and the other inner senshi were sitting in a booth at the Crown Arcade. Thanks to the persuading of Minako they were spying on a date between Usagi and Mamoru. They had noticed that Usagi had been distant from Mamoru lately so they were hoping this date would patch things up. As Usagi ran up the sidewalk late for their date they saw Rei staring at her longingly and sighed: Everyone knew Rei loved Usagi as more than a friend but they couldn't tell if Uasgi felt the same way and if she did they still couldn't be together because they had a future to reach. Usagi had just got up to the booth where Mamoru had been waiting and was panting. "Sorry I was late Mamo-chan, I had to-"Usagi started to explain but being stopped by Mamoru who held up his hand then stood up. "Usagi, don't even bother trying to explain, you have an excuse every time: I was in detention, I had to clean my room, and who knows what else, I'm just sick of having a girlfriend who dosen't even care about our relationship or me."Mamoru said. "Bu-But I do love you Mamo-chan!"Usagi said. Slap. The girls started getting up at once but Rei had been set off just at the sound of the slap that Mamoru gave Usagi across her face. First she knelt down by Usagi who was crying her eyes out then turned to glare at Mamoru once Minako and Makoto came to comfort her. "How dare you! You may be the prince of Earth but in my eyes, your nothing more than a weakling who cares nothing about Usagi! And if I ever see you even touch her again you'll pay!"Rei screamed at Mamoru who was smirking at them. "And what will you do if I don't Miss Shinto Fire Priestess?"Mamoru said, obviously mocking her. That set her off again. She slammed her elbow into his chest and knocked him onto the floor. "That's what will happen."Rei said, hovering over him. "Now get out before I throw you out."Rei said. He walked to the door but before he went out he called over his shoulder, "I guess you've figured it out by now Usagi, but if you haven't, were through." "Usagi-chan."Rei said, turning to her best friend, princess, and secret love who had now stood up and was silently crying. "I tried so hard to make this work, I never thought he would do this to me again and if he did I thought it would be for the same reason as last time or just a cruel joke. But I know he's serious and that no one will ever love me again!"Usagi cried, starting to run out the door with tears streaming down her face. "But Usagi-chan!"Rei said, grabbing her arm causing her to look at her. "But I love you."Rei whispered. "Yo-you do?"Usagi asked, shock apparent on her face. "Hai, I do."Rei said, smiling a genuine smile. "I-I'm sorry Rei-chan, I have so much running through me head right now, I need some time alone!"Usagi replied, getting her arm free of Rei's gentle grip and rushing out the door. "USAGI!"Rei cried, rushing after her. When Rei arrived where Usagi had stopped Usagi was on the ground and a youma that was left over from the battle they had ended not to long ago was about to attack her. Rei, seeing this, silently henshined into Eteranl Sailor Mars and cried, "Mars Flame Sniper!" sending her flame arrow spiraling towards the youma and causing it major damage but not killing it. She ran in front of Usagi and got in front of her in a proctective matter. "No, just run Rei-chan! I can take care of it, I don't want you hurt!"Usagi cried. Rei just turned and smiled at her. "I'm not letting some stupid youma attack the one person I've ever truly loved, as more than a friend and princess."Rei said, turning and glaring at the youma. She charged up her last arrow with all her passion and love for the girls, her friends, her grandpa, and most of all, Usagi, cried, "Mars Flame Sniper!" shot the arrow, and at the same time it killed the youma it knocked her a feww feet backwards from all the power she had in it. When she sat up Usagi ran over to her and embraced her. When she finally released her Rei saw she was smiling at her in a loving way. "Rei-chan, I just realized I never loved Mamoru, I only love you and I'll never love anyone else."Usagi said, causing Rei to get a look of shock on her face then it sofening into nothing but pure love and respect. "Ashiteru Usagi-chan."Rei said as the others including the Outer Senshi ran up and heard her. "Ashiteru Rei-chan."Usagi replied. And with that final words, they kissed each other sweetly on the lips as the others watched knowing that everything was as it should be.
