Almost a month later, Korono was free from the hospital. He carried his sword by him as he walked out and looked around as if another creature was going to come out of nowhere and attack him again. All was clear. He walked down the street in the direction to his apartment.
He inserted his key into his door and opened it slowly. All was cluttered as he had left it. He walked through his living room and down through the hall and opened the door to his room.
There were holes in the walls, and his valuables were thrown carelessly onto the floor. He was appalled. The same broken window remained. And a few black feathers floated right outside the window.
*flap* *flap*
He looked outside the window and saw a different creature flying away from his room. He turned away in anger and figured he would go after the creature to see what it had stolen. He looked in his drawer and searched for the necklace he almost always had taken when he left. It was gone. He clenched his teeth in rage and trampled outside with his sword. He hopped on the motorcycle that he hardly even used, because he believed that it cost too much. (Gas, maintenance and stuff)
*SCREEEECH*
He took off in anger after the monster, constantly getting farther and farther away. The monster turned it's head around and flapped harder. Korono sped up and swerved through traffic, and not stopping at red lights.
Behind him, he heard police sirens blaring. There was no stopping now. At least they couldn't catch up with him.
He showed obvious signs of persistence as he kept following it, even as it left New York city a while later.
The creature now showed signs of slowing as his wings beat down slower, and slower. Korono smiled as he saw the creature land in a tree to rest. He got closer and closer to the tree the animal perched on. As he approached, he stood up on the seat, and let his motorcycle's inertia keep him going. He was now seconds from the tree and he leaped onto the branch it sat on. Below, the motorcycle skid onto the ground.
Creature: I have no business with you!
Korono: I believe you do. *points to it's hand, where necklace is*
Amazingly, the monster spoke, but Korono couldn't care less right now. He moved further down the branch in an effort to take it by force. The monster whipped out a sword from his waist attempted to strike down upon Korono's head.
Korono immediately protected himself with the sword he held in his hand. As the steel of their swords clanged together, he made a twisting motion and sent the sword away from the monster's grasp. Korono kicked the creature from the tree in anger and it hit the earth with a loud thud. The ground vibrated.
Korono: NOW are you going to give that necklace back to me?
Monster: Whatever you want! Take it if you must! *holds up necklace*
Korono leaped from the tall tree and took the necklace. Strangely, he wasn't angry anymore, now he was more curios.
Korono: What's your name anyways?
Monster: Kaota
Korono: That's a weird name for a giant, muscular, winged creature.
Kaota: My mother named me that! She says it's beautiful!
Korono: Ok, whatever.
Korono: So, where were you going with my necklace?
Kaota: I was going to this big rip in the sky called oza. But it actually is above the arctic circle. I was supposed to bring that necklace you've got to our queen, but obviously, I can't return now, because I don't have that necklace.
Korono: And you never will return, because I'm not giving it back. What's so special about it anyways?
Kaota: Well, you see.... ummm, look at that diamond at the end. That glowy thingie you see inside.... our species thrives off of it to survive.
Korono Well, I can't go back to my apartment either because the cops are looking for me now.
Kaota: So I guess we've got to go somewhere..... *coughs* Arctic circle!
Korono: Well, it's better than nothing. I'll go talk to your queen once we get over there. And plus, I'm kinda curious about oza.
Kaota collected his sword from the ground. Korono got back on his motorcycle, and Kaota flew overhead. And with that, their journey commenced!
