The air shimmered and distorted in an alleyway between to skyscrapers in New York city. Then it collected together to create a gray disk and a tall teenage hedgehog emerged. He brandished a long katana and he seemed way older than he looked. He stepped out of the portal and walked out of the alleyway. Crowds of people passed him on the sidewalk and it seemed as if no one even noticed that he was there. He merged in with the people walking down the sidewalk and eventually turned into a larger alleyway.

He reached into his pant pocket and pulled out a blue glass orb. He dropped it onto the floor and the glass shattered. A ghostly red smoke blew out of the broken orb and came together to form a creature with the appearance of a pterodactyl and a fish. Overall, it was blue streaked with red and it had a long sharp tail and large wings.

Creature: Yes Alex?

Alex: You need to bring me to someone.

Alex, the teenage boy's name was. His voice was strong and bold and it never wavered or showed hesitation. The creature, called Skai, spoke back with a deep, bass voice.

Skai: Where?

Alex: I will give you directions as we go.

Alex climbed onto Skai's wide back and Skai unfolded the wings he kept against his body. Strong wind blew outward as he opened his large wings and he flapped them slowly. His wings were about twenty feet in wingspan, and Skai didn't need much effort to fly

Nearly a day later they reached their destination in the arctic circle and flew up into the open gash in the sky leading to Oza.
