"Katherine. Kat. Kitty. Isn't she cute?" asked a man with deep brown hair, who smiled and tickled the chin of a young baby who gurgled in delight.
"Yes. Sweet. She has my father's eyes." sighed the woman who was next to him, with oddly coloured purple hair.
"Hey, c'mon. We need to focus on the now of the moment." said the man, putting his thumb on the womans chin and turning her gaze to his comforting eyes.
The woman smiled.
"Yes, Alex, you're right."
He smiled. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
"I'll go get that." said the man. He left his wife and went downstairs to the door.
The woman smiled and played with the baby as her husband tried to make the person go away, but she strained to hear.
There was a mumble that must have been the man.
"Can I help?"
Mumblemumble.
"The Dark Lord?"
The woman froze.
"No...no, I'd never pledge allegiaence to him.What-?! Oh no."
Kitty gurgled.
There was a loud bang downstairs and the woman laid down the baby on the double bed and ran downstairs.
The door had been torn off it's hinges and was lying int wo halves acroos the room, one lodged in the TV and the other on the floor. The sofa had been ripped and their lamp and end table were broken and their glass coffee table was in thousands of pieces. In the dim light that came from the light on their ceiling illuminated man with a snake-like face and a long, black robe. In one hand he held a black wand. On the other side of the room there was her husband, bleeding from many places.
"Tammy....run..." he choked, then went limp. The dark lord turned to her.
"Don't. There is no point. You will die!" he said, thrusting his wand towards her. Tammy jumped out the way as a green light hit the ceiling above her, making it crumble and plaster hitting the stairs. Her hair got showered in dust.
The man started up the stairs after her.
Tammy got to her room and pushed the door shut with her whole body, clicking the lock shut. Kitty looked at her with sleepy eyes.
"Kitty!" she said, snatching up her child and thrwoing herself to the floor. She rolled to under it and pulled down the covers over the side to obscure her, leaving a small gap so she could see just above the carpet.
The baby gurgled and Tammy clamped a hand over her mouth.
There was silence. Suddenly, there was a scrabble at the door. The key slowly turned in the lock. Tammy gasped and tried not to make the tears come. She grabbed her wand from her hoody pocket and fingered it.
The key fell out the lock and the door began to slide open.
Tammy held her breath. She didn't want to die. She was a child. Well, 29. She hadn't lived. She hadn't lived at all!
The door was thrown open the rest of the way and from under the gap in the cover a black cloak swept acroos the floor.
There was no movement as it stood about a foot away from the bedsted.
Tammy finially felt hot tears run down her face and she kissed the top of her baby's head.
"I love you." she whispered.
The bed flew away as a knockback jinx hit it. Tammy looked into the cold eyes of the lord Voldemort.
"Goodbye." he said.
Tammy rolled to the left and picked herself up, then ran to the window, cowering.
"Avada Kadavra!" he said, and a green beam flew straight to Tammy's heart. She fell over, lifeless, the baby still in her arms.
Voldemort looked at the child and smiled evilly.
"Avada Kad-"
"Tom. I though you knew better than to come here."
He turned to see a man with a grey beard and blue eyes. He had a long cloak with many stars on it and half-moon spectacles.
"Albus." he said, stiffly.
"Go, Tom. Go."
Voldemort took one look at the baby and scowled, then drew his wand.
"AVADA KADAVRA!"
A green bolt of light flew towards little Kitty.
Albus started towards her. But Kitty was quicker. She looked straight at the beam. Her eyes turned pink. It fizzed out in the air.
Voldemort gaped. But he didn't have time to do anything, as Albus put his wand to the Dark Lord's back and he screamed in pain, then disappeared.
Kitty giggled and clapped her hands. Albus came over to the baby and picked her up. Kitty looked at him solemnly.
"Katherine. I'm sorry....they're dead." he said. Kitty didn't move.
"I am Albus. I am your grandfather. I'll take care of you now."
Kitty gave a small smiled and her eyes shined.
"Katherine. Katherine Mae Dumbledore."
And back, the girl squeaked:
"Kit-ty!"
