Gilraen was dragged back to Adam the next morning. She came calmly as she had a plan and knew that Kai wouldn't desert her. He told her he would come back. They dragged her to the entrance of the basement. Adam was standing there. The guards pushed her in and closed the door. Adam turned around.
“How did you escape?”
“I didn't. You caught me.” She said calmly.
“I mean from the cell! How on earth did you find a key?!”
“I'm not telling you!”
He sighed and walked over to a huge machine.
“Whats that?”
“This? It's the abbeys new invention. Very clever I think. I could use it on that Kai boy, as punishment…”
“No! Leave him alone! He doesn't deserve this!”
“And do I deserve to be treated the way you treated me?!”
“You cant do this to him! I don't know what this machine does, but whatever you do to him, you have to do to me!”
There was a pause. Gilraen smiled.
“You would not dare kill me, Adam?”
Adam grunted. He knew she was right. He couldn't kill her. He just couldn't. He had another plan.
“Step over here.” He led her to another, even bigger machine. “Step in. I promise Kai will never be harmed again, as long as he keeps out of my way…”
Gilraen stepped in and he closed the door. Minutes later she stepped out again.
“I don't feel any different. What did you do?”
“You became immortal. Your soul belongs to me now. It will be stored in the machine. I choose if you die. But Kai will not be harmed.” He smiled at the shock on her face.
Gilraen ran. She ran up the stairs and out the abbey. She didn't know where she was going. Tears pouring down her face. He chose if she would die? How could she have been so stupid! With her out of the way, Kai would be killed aswell!
She sat down by the river and buried her head in her arms, sobbing. Probably the last person she wanted to talk to approached her.
“Gilraen is that you?”
Gilraens head shot up. “Tyson? No! Go away!”
“Not till you tell me whats wrong!”
“You wouldn't understand.” She hurriedly wiped her eyes on her sleeve. “Do you know where Kai is? I need to speak with him.”
“Err, I don't know…try the hotel. Room 14.”
“Thanks.” Gilraen ran off, leaving Tyson sitting there, stunned.
Knock Knock
“Who is it?”
“Gilraen! I need to speak to Kai, is he there?!”
Rei opened the door. “No, sorry I think he went somewhere, but he never tells us where hes going…”
Gilraen caught her breath and sighed “Ok, thankyou. Ill just keep looking!”
She went everywhere. In every shop, every restaurant, every church, every park and could find him anywhere. Then she had a sudden thought, and headed back for the abbey.
Kai burst in through the abbey basement door.
“Wheres Gilraen?!” he demanded, catching sight of Adam.
“Oh shes here, somewhere. But before we get to that, I just want you to know that I could kill her so easily. The way I almost killed you.
Kai laughed, but he didn't smile. “You didn't kill me though. Gilraen stopped your plans.”
“Which is exactly why I plan on killing her, unless you feel like doing something for me…”
