I was watching a documentary called "Der taumelnde Kontinent" (the staggering continent) on German television, which was showing how people in spent their final few weeks before the outbreak of WWI.
Even though the storm was already coming, clear for almost anyone to see, still the party went on...until the horrible awakening.
This was the longest work I have ever done. That Picture is also slightly larger in size than what I normally do (the original is A3 size) and it took me almost 9 months to finish (with interruptions, of course). The medium is pencil, as usual, and I decided against the use of any coloring or other digital stuff on this. Just old School paper and pencil.
RIP to all those innoncent people who lost their lives, loved ones, youth or / and sanity during this horrifiying War.]]>Princess Zelda Nouveau by Seifer-samaurn:uuid:00c5847f-8e6b-eeb5-49e5-e1966b505e5f2013-09-17T03:00:39-07:00Video Game: Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Character: Princess Zelda, Sheik, Link, and Ganondorf Medium: Pencil, paper, photoshop Time Taken: 14 hours
Holy crap, I finally have artwork to submit. O_O It's only been forever. Ha ha! Anyway I actually wasn't going to do as much with this drawing as I did... but it just kept growing. Originally it was just Zelda posing with her sword, but then idea after idea kept coming and well here we are. I have never attempted a nouveau drawing before... so I have to admit I wasn't really sure where to start, but I came up with a design and stuck with it. I think I might even do one for Link and Ganon as well, that might be fun!]]>Air: Aang by Seifer-samaurn:uuid:074cef7b-de29-6c2b-bb92-d9e04ea76e7c2012-08-19T16:07:37-07:00Series: Avatar the Last Airbender
Character: Aang
Medium: Pencil, paper, photoshop
Time Taken: 6-8 hours
Oh look, another drawing!! I have to admit I am surprised it took me this long to submit some Avatar fanart... It's one of my favorite shows! So I decides I would start by following the Avatar cycle. Expect to see a Water: Katara next!
I actually had a difficult time coming up with a pose for Aang. I guess Air isn't my element. I really wanted a swirling motion to illustrate the Airbending style. I finally settled on on this post though. I also wanted to experiment with color a bit on this one. I chose a blue background and I thought it might be neat to have orange and yellow near the base of the tornado, as if Aang were moving so fast he was a blur.
Enjoy!]]>Shadows of the Temple by Seifer-samaurn:uuid:2ffaaf5e-7b13-1693-97ba-f25a1b8e3d142012-08-05T14:42:17-07:00Holy crap! Is this a drawing?? Why yes it is!
Series: Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
Character: Link, Navi, & some Wolfos.
This piece belongs with the other two Zelda pieces I added forever ago. Now I have done one of each of the three tunics! Yays! Now what will I do. :P
Actually, this piece was an experiment for me. I wanted to try and make a picture that was done fast (well faster than I usually color) but still have the amount of quality I require from myself. I was faster for sure, and I am very pleased with the overall result. I do feel though that with practice I can do much better and be much faster.
So hopefully this will be the first of many new drawings to come. I hope you enjoy.]]>ORC'IDEE 2011 by Kateurn:uuid:18de62dd-06a6-f816-f33d-32b42086db2b2011-10-19T20:12:30-07:00"ORC'IDÉE 2011"
A poster I designed for a Swiss RPG Fair called "ORC'IDÉE". This edition was called "The twelve teeth of midnight" (there is a pun between "crocs" = “animal teeth” and "coups"= "clock strikes", --> French is fun, isn't it?) with a lot of horror RPGs...Including vampires, werewolves, witches and...my favorite baddie: Jack the Ripper!

Time Taken: 20 - 30hours (I blame the lava....)
Okay so I decided I wanted to do a set of three pictures, with the color themed after Link's other tunics. Obviously, this is the red one. :P I decided I wanted to have Link fighting a lizalfos with a lava fall in the background. Big mistake there, the lava probably took more time than anything else on the picture. It's good experience though right?
I tried a few new techniques on the lizalfos' skin and I was pretty pleased with the result. I will have to remember it if I ever draw more of them. I also noticed that there are very few references for lizalfos, so I changed the design slightly. I think he actually came out looking pretty scary!]]>Waiting for You by Seifer-samaurn:uuid:a2c7225b-6082-a58c-76c7-aaa37b6dea132011-02-28T16:53:32-08:00From: Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Yay another weekly challenge out on time. This one was a lot of fun for me, I found myself having a tough time pulling away from it. Shadow Link is one of my favorite bosses, too bad the poor guy is stuck in the most dreadful dungeons in the entire game. :P
I actually had the idea for this picture a few years ago but I never drew it because I was pretty uncomfortable with drawing perspective. I still am a little nervous about making it accurate, but I am better than I used to be. I also feel like you don't improve if you don't challenge yourself.
I did a lot of research on water texture and actually just ended up drawing my own. It was helpful to have them as a reference though.]]>Ordon Link by Seifer-samaurn:uuid:3374330b-106c-3767-8678-95d1fb5bdd612011-02-23T22:28:43-08:00From: Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Ah ha! I am getting faster! This picture was commissioned/requested by a good friend of mine. And he better like it. :P Just teasing.
So there was a bit of a discussion on this picture as to how the baby goat should look. It was difficult to decide if the goat should have horns that connected or horns at all. Eventually we decided that the horns would be connected, just smaller than the adult.
The background was actually pretty fun and I did more on it than I originally planned. I turned on Twilight Princess and used a nice spot on the game for a reference.]]>Find Your Way by Seifer-samaurn:uuid:0591fc2d-50a9-634e-047c-dd17000826302011-02-16T22:59:26-08:00From: Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess/Super Smash Bros Brawl
Characters: Sheik
Used: Pen & Paper, and Photoshop CS3
Time Taken: 20 - 30hours
Well here is the picture for this week. It actually took me a lot longer than I had planned on, mainly because Sheik's outfit is very complicated. The background didn't take nearly as long as i thought it would. I tried some new techniques using different brushes for the stone. It seemed to save a little bit of time and still looks pretty good.
I was very sad to see that Sheik did not make an appearance in Twilight Princess, which is too bad too, I could so see Sheik leaping from the towers of Hyrule Castle, ready to kick some butt! I went back and forth on whether or not the squares should be in the picture. It is the Twilight Relm, but the squares stuck out too much the way I originally had them, so I blended them into the background a little more and it seemed to work much better.]]>Hyrule's Legend by Seifer-samaurn:uuid:f5f08849-ff73-7b11-da4b-d2ce5cfb255b2011-02-08T01:35:55-08:00From: Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

I actually drew this picture years ago when I was in a digital art class in college. I found it a few days ago and thought it looked pretty good for an older drawing and decided to color it. I also decided that I was going to give myself a weekly challenge to draw and color at least one thing a week, so here is the start of that challenge. :P
One of the reasons I am trying to challenge myself is most of my digital drawings take too long. I am trying to learn how to color faster. I still do all the textures myself and I need to find more efficient ways of creating the same effect. With this picture I didn't try any new techniques than any of my other digital drawings, but hopefully now that I have started this challenge, I will come up with new techniques.]]>Lily's Grove by Seifer-samaurn:uuid:4aefd180-5b70-1f23-dd0d-638918e6a9cc2010-11-09T20:16:22-08:00Hey I am getting better! It didn't take me a year to finish this one. :P
So for starters, I am very pleased with this one. It's actually going to be for someone else, but I was so proud of the final piece I wanted to post it. Because this was for someone else, I really pushed my skills to the limits (and my computer too!!). I have been working on this for about a month now... I was actually about halfway finished with this and went back to work on it to find that the file had been corrupted, which meant a week's worth of work was lost. But I managed to make all that up in four days. Not bad huh? :P
As for inspiration... I guess you could say the person who this belongs to is the inspiration. There is also a little poem I wrote for the piece, but I doubt I will post it here, since no one reads these right?]]>King of Halloween II by Seifer-samaurn:uuid:ac4defd9-7f86-04dd-87e1-e07734caab752010-10-07T19:58:06-07:00Happy Halloween everyone!!! So I actually started this last year and never finished it. I am so bad sometimes.
This was my own original character and this is actually my second time drawing him. The old one is in my gallery somewhere, but it's been a while and I must say, I like the new one much better. :P I kept the design of the character for the most part, but just made a few changes to make him easier to color.
I spent a lot of time (probably too much) on some of the small details, which are sadly a little lost due to the smaller image size. But at least the spider web can still be seen. :P]]>The Promised Pathway by Seifer-samaurn:uuid:bf1f2be7-f082-e96e-9a21-229e5d161c592010-08-11T19:23:23-07:00Anime: Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust
Characters: Meier Link and Charlotte
Okay so it's been a while since I submitted any art. Well I decided to break that cycle. :)
I have been working on this for the passed week now and I am so happy to finally have it finished.
I absolutely love the movie Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust (I am hoping the same director will make another) and I haven't done any artwork from the movie in years. I thought it would be nice to do the cute couple instead of D fan art. now I have to admit, Charlotte was really difficult to draw, but I am so pleased with the end result.
I am also really pleased with the background. I really love the way the stained glass came out. I tried a few new techniques and I think it all worked out really well. Hopefully the next time it won't take me so long. :P]]>Anne by Kateurn:uuid:cc4fad38-7990-5720-9ee0-b4e6b7120c9b2010-02-13T01:55:17-08:00Almost a year without drawing…damn, I need some vacation! (as always ^^)
These are scenes from two movies adapted from the novels by French author Marcel Pagnol. They were shown in theatre in 1986, and Gérard Depardieu looks incredibly youg there ^^.
If you have the chance to watch them, GO AHEAD! I think that they have never been translated (I’m not sure about it), but subtitles DO exist :-).
Those very sad movies take place in Provence, Southern France, the first one in the 1910s and the sequel some ten years later. Anyway, Happy New Years everyone!!!
This is actually a late Christmas present for a friend... but I thought it might be nice to share it. :)
I think the most difficult part about this entire thing was the background. I had a hard time trying to figure out a good color for it. Bleh... It is dark, really REALLY dark (even for a Burton) and extremely violent…but I love it. I must be mad.
This is the reason why I am really happy that I managed to finish this picture right on time for the Swiss release. It was really awful to draw (the details on tapestry, floor, trousers, etc…) and I am still not happy with the result.

I was more or less “pulled into” a Crossover RPG, where characters from different movies, books and series had to deal with a very hostile environment…and with each other.

So, I was feeling really lazy and art blockish.. and I drew this picture of me with artblock... and then I was working away at coloring it while still feeling incredibly lazy and I thought "hey.. since I can't really do anything productive artistically, I could make a coloring tutorial"
You see, I never really colored stuff before when I had art block.. and then I realized it could be really easy and fast. Sure, it takes some practice to get familiar with everything.. but once you have that down, it's really just a simple four step process per layer. And then it's done!
Of course, if you don't have artblock, you can probably be a little more creative with the technique. It's still handy [YAY!]
Okay... so I've been noticing that some people don't seem to know how to resize images. A common misconception, I think, is that people believe they don't have a program capable of handling resizing. Well since MOST people have MS Paint (Mac users don't, but Macs are a little more graphics savvy so you probably know you can use your art programs to resize images anyways) then most people do have a program. Even if they're not running photoshop or something like that.
When I had somebody tell me that they didn't have a resizing program, I asked if they had MS Paint. Then they told me that it doesn't work as well.. so that's when I decided to make this tutorial. Hopefully it'll be helpful to some of you!]]>OC: Linsey by Yusuke_SprtDtctvurn:uuid:a168773e-9e15-6c5c-6c32-1e53c5360f862007-07-17T03:18:47-07:00Soo... I've been working on a ref sheet. Game: Zelda Twilight Princess
Character: Link
OKay well I have been working on this for three weeks now, so I am really happy to finally be able to post it.
First off I must say, that it is way more difficult to color in Photoshop than I originally thought. This is actually the second time I have tried to color this picture. I got about halfway through and realized that i didn't like the way his skin came out... So I redid everything.
I am really happy with this one though. Hm... the most difficult part by far was the hair and the chain mail. *laughs* I think I spent most of my time working with those, mainly because I decided to be stupid and draw each strand of hair. (That's a no no next time I color with this program)
Well anyway. Hope you all like it. ^ ^
Materials: Drawn by hand with a pencil, penned, scanned and then colored in Photoshop.]]>
