I was watching a documentary called "Der taumelnde Kontinent" (the staggering continent) on German television, which was showing how people in spent their final few weeks before the outbreak of WWI.
Even though the storm was already coming, clear for almost anyone to see, still the party went on...until the horrible awakening.
This was the longest work I have ever done. That Picture is also slightly larger in size than what I normally do (the original is A3 size) and it took me almost 9 months to finish (with interruptions, of course). The medium is pencil, as usual, and I decided against the use of any coloring or other digital stuff on this. Just old School paper and pencil.
RIP to all those innoncent people who lost their lives, loved ones, youth or / and sanity during this horrifiying War.]]>Princess Zelda Nouveau by Seifer-samaurn:uuid:00c5847f-8e6b-eeb5-49e5-e1966b505e5f2013-09-17T03:00:39-07:00Video Game: Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Character: Princess Zelda, Sheik, Link, and Ganondorf Medium: Pencil, paper, photoshop Time Taken: 14 hours
Holy crap, I finally have artwork to submit. O_O It's only been forever. Ha ha! Anyway I actually wasn't going to do as much with this drawing as I did... but it just kept growing. Originally it was just Zelda posing with her sword, but then idea after idea kept coming and well here we are. I have never attempted a nouveau drawing before... so I have to admit I wasn't really sure where to start, but I came up with a design and stuck with it. I think I might even do one for Link and Ganon as well, that might be fun!]]>Barack Obama - hope for millions by Vivianeurn:uuid:f4553ad7-e331-9169-4b5e-81d2dd05c8ec2012-10-18T06:34:21-07:00There exists two artworks which complement each other. Oh look, another drawing!! I have to admit I am surprised it took me this long to submit some Avatar fanart... It's one of my favorite shows! So I decides I would start by following the Avatar cycle. Expect to see a Water: Katara next!
I actually had a difficult time coming up with a pose for Aang. I guess Air isn't my element. I really wanted a swirling motion to illustrate the Airbending style. I finally settled on on this post though. I also wanted to experiment with color a bit on this one. I chose a blue background and I thought it might be neat to have orange and yellow near the base of the tornado, as if Aang were moving so fast he was a blur.
Enjoy!]]>Shadows of the Temple by Seifer-samaurn:uuid:2ffaaf5e-7b13-1693-97ba-f25a1b8e3d142012-08-05T14:42:17-07:00Holy crap! Is this a drawing?? Why yes it is!
Series: Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
Character: Link, Navi, & some Wolfos.
This piece belongs with the other two Zelda pieces I added forever ago. Now I have done one of each of the three tunics! Yays! Now what will I do. :P
Actually, this piece was an experiment for me. I wanted to try and make a picture that was done fast (well faster than I usually color) but still have the amount of quality I require from myself. I was faster for sure, and I am very pleased with the overall result. I do feel though that with practice I can do much better and be much faster.
So hopefully this will be the first of many new drawings to come. I hope you enjoy.]]>ORC'IDEE 2011 by Kateurn:uuid:18de62dd-06a6-f816-f33d-32b42086db2b2011-10-19T20:12:30-07:00"ORC'IDÉE 2011"
A poster I designed for a Swiss RPG Fair called "ORC'IDÉE". This edition was called "The twelve teeth of midnight" (there is a pun between "crocs" = “animal teeth” and "coups"= "clock strikes", --> French is fun, isn't it?) with a lot of horror RPGs...Including vampires, werewolves, witches and...my favorite baddie: Jack the Ripper!

I like the combination of various pink shades with accents of black and white parts. I imagine that this signorina could be a young, Italian fashion model.^.^
This image steps out of line a bit, because there are no outlines compared to my other artworks. Here, just areas of colours are docking on each other. That requires a rethink when designing the image, because I can't lean on my lines, I'm used to. I had to make sure that the same or similar coloured areas remain distinguishable from each other (I resolved it with gradients) and conform harmoniously into the overall picture.
Another speciality of this image: The original file is a vector graphic. That means, the areas are built up of curves jointed by invisible points instead of pixels. That has the advantage that this image can be printed as large as desired without any decline in quality.
For me, it's a very different way of doing an artwork and that makes the work juicy. I have to use other graphic software than usually.
First, I drew a sketch of the girl on an A5 paper sheet and scanned it. I traced (not auto-trace but by hand) the lines with the program Corel Draw, because it works finely for bezier curves, but I coloured it in Adobe Illustrator, because this program does the gradients better.
I've a soft spot for the 1960's style, thus I used it as a influence for the background. I'm not sure if I really can be content with the outcome, because I usually don't make anything in this style and so I've a great lack of exercise and experience.]]>Beast of the Inferno by Seifer-samaurn:uuid:a25a4619-765d-589b-822c-b6900e79cb372011-03-13T21:09:33-07:00From: Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Okay so I decided I wanted to do a set of three pictures, with the color themed after Link's other tunics. Obviously, this is the red one. :P I decided I wanted to have Link fighting a lizalfos with a lava fall in the background. Big mistake there, the lava probably took more time than anything else on the picture. It's good experience though right?
I tried a few new techniques on the lizalfos' skin and I was pretty pleased with the result. I will have to remember it if I ever draw more of them. I also noticed that there are very few references for lizalfos, so I changed the design slightly. I think he actually came out looking pretty scary!]]>Waiting for You by Seifer-samaurn:uuid:a2c7225b-6082-a58c-76c7-aaa37b6dea132011-02-28T16:53:32-08:00From: Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Yay another weekly challenge out on time. This one was a lot of fun for me, I found myself having a tough time pulling away from it. Shadow Link is one of my favorite bosses, too bad the poor guy is stuck in the most dreadful dungeons in the entire game. :P
I actually had the idea for this picture a few years ago but I never drew it because I was pretty uncomfortable with drawing perspective. I still am a little nervous about making it accurate, but I am better than I used to be. I also feel like you don't improve if you don't challenge yourself.

Ah ha! I am getting faster! This picture was commissioned/requested by a good friend of mine. And he better like it. :P Just teasing.
So there was a bit of a discussion on this picture as to how the baby goat should look. It was difficult to decide if the goat should have horns that connected or horns at all. Eventually we decided that the horns would be connected, just smaller than the adult.
The background was actually pretty fun and I did more on it than I originally planned. Well here is the picture for this week. It actually took me a lot longer than I had planned on, mainly because Sheik's outfit is very complicated. The background didn't take nearly as long as i thought it would. I tried some new techniques using different brushes for the stone. It seemed to save a little bit of time and still looks pretty good.
I was very sad to see that Sheik did not make an appearance in Twilight Princess, which is too bad too, I could so see Sheik leaping from the towers of Hyrule Castle, ready to kick some butt! I went back and forth on whether or not the squares should be in the picture. It is the Twilight Relm, but the squares stuck out too much the way I originally had them, so I blended them into the background a little more and it seemed to work much better.]]>Hyrule's Legend by Seifer-samaurn:uuid:f5f08849-ff73-7b11-da4b-d2ce5cfb255b2011-02-08T01:35:55-08:00From: Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

I actually drew this picture years ago when I was in a digital art class in college. I found it a few days ago and thought it looked pretty good for an older drawing and decided to color it. I also decided that I was going to give myself a weekly challenge to draw and color at least one thing a week, so here is the start of that challenge. :P
One of the reasons I am trying to challenge myself is most of my digital drawings take too long. I am trying to learn how to color faster. I still do all the textures myself and I need to find more efficient ways of creating the same effect. With this picture I didn't try any new techniques than any of my other digital drawings, but hopefully now that I have started this challenge, I will come up with new techniques.]]>Lily's Grove by Seifer-samaurn:uuid:4aefd180-5b70-1f23-dd0d-638918e6a9cc2010-11-09T20:16:22-08:00Hey I am getting better! It didn't take me a year to finish this one. :P
So for starters, I am very pleased with this one. It's actually going to be for someone else, but I was so proud of the final piece I wanted to post it. Because this was for someone else, I really pushed my skills to the limits (and my computer too!!). I have been working on this for about a month now... I was actually about halfway finished with this and went back to work on it to find that the file had been corrupted, which meant a week's worth of work was lost. But I managed to make all that up in four days. Not bad huh? :P
As for inspiration... I guess you could say the person who this belongs to is the inspiration. There is also a little poem I wrote for the piece, but I doubt I will post it here, since no one reads these right?]]>King of Halloween II by Seifer-samaurn:uuid:ac4defd9-7f86-04dd-87e1-e07734caab752010-10-07T19:58:06-07:00Happy Halloween everyone!!! So I actually started this last year and never finished it. I am so bad sometimes.
This was my own original character and this is actually my second time drawing him. The old one is in my gallery somewhere, but it's been a while and I must say, I like the new one much better. :P I kept the design of the character for the most part, but just made a few changes to make him easier to color.
I spent a lot of time (probably too much) on some of the small details, which are sadly a little lost due to the smaller image size. Okay so it's been a while since I submitted any art. Well I decided to break that cycle. :)
I have been working on this for the passed week now and I am so happy to finally have it finished.
I absolutely love the movie Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust (I am hoping the same director will make another) and I haven't done any artwork from the movie in years. I thought it would be nice to do the cute couple instead of D fan art. now I have to admit, Charlotte was really difficult to draw, but I am so pleased with the end result.
I am also really pleased with the background. I really love the way the stained glass came out. I tried a few new techniques and I think it all worked out really well. It's essentailly based on Bob Dylan's life but the director's perspective is truly unique.
He shows the different phases/stages of Dylan's life through SIX different actors, including an amazing talented young black kid (plays as Dylan's child years) and a woman, just as amazingly talented (plays as Dylan at his peak of fame and drug abuse,(this photograph is visually how she portrayed him-spot on. her acting was phenominal!).
Also, the cinemtographic plot is mind-blowing. It's so freakn' cool, words can not describe how much I LOVE this film. Now I am a HUGE Dylan fan.

He's the founder and owner of a brand of popular scene apparel line called Heartbreaker Clothing (heartbreakerclothing.net).
Go check him out if you adore modern style portrait photography. He implements the principles and elements of design so well. Truly a visionary.
here's his deviant gallery: http://saturdayx.deviantart.com/ (i apologize if the link doesn't work. i say copy and paste)
And believe it or not, he's only 18 or so! I admire His entrepenurial success at such a young age: his designs are printed on American Apparel (luvi it!), beautiful models, and his merchandise is shipped WORLDWIDE (founded in Canada)!
i'm jealous.
I wanted to put in the third model for the photograph labeled "heartbreaker clothing 2", but didn't have enough room, so she'll be featured in another sketch by herself :)
The basis of these sketches were to test out a new technique of drawing for myself. It's a founding concept for all visual artists that may have learned it during art classes, but, I never had the chance to take art class outside of public school during elementary and middle school (crucial years of artistic development for me), so I was never "formally" trained. It's okay though, I say I'm still doing pretty good for no formal art education :D
oops! sorry for the size of the picture and contrast. I just recently bought a new MFP, the Canon Pixma MX310 (walked in Office Depot with the intention of buying ink for my Dell and instead came out with a whole new printer... printer collecting is a bad habit to form...)
as soon as I figure out how to resize it on the PC (yes, can do it with PS, but I'm too lazy right now to pick up my macbook), I'll edit it.
peace
