If you read any of R.A. Salvatore's novels about Drizzt Do'Urden and their spin-offs, those also have quite creepy chapters (especially The War of the Spider Queen series), not to mention bolshocks having their own creepy customs (including cannibalism, which was quite common during the Great Famine of the late 1930s and amongst people forcibly settled to Siberia).
One could say that Russians from the Vyerkhuskha (elites of their society) are like dark elves from Dungeons and Dragons: Forgotten Realms and Greyhawk campaign settings, especially with their devotion to evil (Stalin and the Dark Seldarine, respectively), customary treachery, violent militaristic culture, abuse of the weaker, and despise of the human life's value.
