So I decided to use this to practice what I've recently learned about coloring in Photoshop. About one and a half hours later, I'm proud of what I've accomplished. In Shadow by Nefyrurn:uuid:6ba962e4-9fac-9feb-06dc-5d5180281a3d2006-04-28T18:06:03-07:00This was my practice with micron pens. The pencil sketch alone took 1.5 hours, and the inking took 3. I tried to combine a few of the common inking techniques.
ROCKS. *diez* I had no idea how to draw them, so I took an LotR screencap from The Halls of the Dead. Bad, bad idea. (Waaay too much detail.)Kenpachi (Abandoned WiP) by Nefyrurn:uuid:3af9abc8-2fe1-34c2-f2f9-fac704ec9a942006-04-27T21:23:21-07:00This was my first piece of digital art after obtaining my tablet in December. I rather loosely used a reference, and tried to achieve as much realistic detail as possible.
I did this in January, and I'm not going to finish it. But I do hope to draw Ken~chan again.Gargoyle by Nefyrurn:uuid:6dd4990f-c9ca-a8bb-7422-2993696a54ad2006-04-27T21:20:02-07:00Some more older art; I did this one last August with charcoal. A gargoyle a la D&D.Edward Scissorhands by Nefyrurn:uuid:11e25550-a79a-476d-7ec4-691fc7d6011d2006-03-21T18:33:00-08:00Tablet + Photoshop, about an hour

So, this is about the extent of my current CGing skill. Some technical jargon: I tried blending with smudge first, then did airbrush, then normal blend tool. I got frustrated and just ran it through a filter to smooth out the colors.
Used a movie poster for a reference. The Genius and His Bodyguard by Nefyrurn:uuid:2830d63b-dae7-58b5-7742-4308c5625ace2006-03-21T18:30:51-08:00Artemis Fowl and Butler from the series Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer.
Drawn for the awesome ~ArgentumDraco's birthday, therefore, interpret how you want, as I know what she sees in this. *coughslashcough* Anyways, I used a reference for the pose. This was my first time working with pastel pencil. It's fun, but can be annoying and is very time consuming. For example, when coloring Butler's suit, I started with a coat of black, blended it, then added another to darken it, and blended that, then added the shadows, blended them, added and blended blue, added and blended more black. >__Green Solemnity by Nefyrurn:uuid:76255f10-b7e4-7f82-0ea0-9c13c62903862006-03-05T23:18:13-08:00Drawn for a close friend.
So, yes, I'm going back to the colorized graphite that was typical of my earlier artwork. Perhaps next I can try a few colors in one pic? This is probably the best portrait I've done yet.
.5 and .7mm HB graphite, photoshopr.a.g.e. by Nefyrurn:uuid:f38fb086-ff6b-c21f-8132-21739f7d754d2006-03-04T15:41:18-08:00This is Nanya's Sabre Tooth Dragon, used with her permission. I sort of remixed it into my "style". This was really really fun to draw and color. I decided just to use monotone digital colors after a bit of fooling around, and messed with the pencil until it was dark enough to suffice as the shading. I swear I'll learn how to paint properly soon...
I sort of used a ref, but just to make sure I was getting the clothes and hair correct. Prismacolors are so much better than the run-of-the-mill Crayola as far as blend goes. They're fairly expensive, but worth it.Harry's Morning Coffee by Nefyrurn:uuid:a87d7396-d749-bdfa-2437-5811ccc737402006-01-09T21:32:07-08:00This was drawn as one of the illustrations for a fic by one of my friends (http://www.livejournal.com/community/harry_and_ron/350568.html).
It's NC-17 Harry/Ron, if you're interested.
This one was a short hour-and-a-half thing. I'm re-defining the way I draw people. However, the only thing I'm certain of is how to draw profile. I have to work on scales, but other than that...Izumi by Nefyrurn:uuid:846585a4-fb10-7155-e9c1-90c6290d8b8a2005-09-10T22:49:06-07:00I decided to do a series of portraits with abstract backgrounds of my four original characters. This was the third. (Note: After this pic, I discontinued the series, mainly because I'm still not sure how I want the last character to look.
The background was fun, but took forever. I was trying to decide on a unique hairstyle, and this randomly popped into my head.Darrell by Nefyrurn:uuid:b0ad80b8-069a-046d-e6d7-7dc1201799e42005-09-07T09:19:19-07:00The dark part of the background isn't wavy on purpose; I just pressed so hard with my mechanical pencil that it warped the paper. I had found an incredible engraving that I was going to use, with a pose that was fascinating. However, Arachne was topless, so the teacher wouldn't hear of it. So I sort of re-drew the pic. But now, I can't get it; the page is down. *sighs*Kiss Scandal by Nefyrurn:uuid:17fd89b9-4c47-06aa-695f-64d699414be42005-09-06T00:20:34-07:00A large version of the bottom panel of a scene from Kiss Scandal, a scanlated manga involving an affair between a congressman, Colin and his secretary, Paul.

It was so difficult to find a picture of a rose that I could use. Took forever.
