Unfortunately, (and unjustly!) she didn't win, but it was fun for her. This is her in the traditional formal dress of Vietnam, the ao dai.

From a King Arthur myth. Apparently, as my friend told me, Gweniviere was going to be burnt at the stake because Arthur got majorly mad, sent her to be burnt, but then Lancelot saved her.
Meh, I only somewhat like this picture.]]>Lookin Up by Pabbit_da_Rabbiturn:uuid:e799ba99-f88a-9242-0bd8-317e3daf8d372008-02-18T19:14:58-08:00Finally done with this. It depicts Izanagi and Izunami spearing the vast ocean from the bridge of heaven and creating the first island, Japan. I tried to take some of the style of woodblocking and Katsushika Hokusai.

So, here's my exterior!
Wow, I've never done anything like this before. Buildings, cliffs, destruction; all in one painting. Yay. :]

So I stippled the shoe rack in my garage. My God! 5 straight days of stippling does things to your hands and eyes. I seriously wanted to stop a quarter of the way through...Too...many...DOTS!!! *_*
Yeah. A lot of shoes, and that's not even all of them. What do you expect in a family with three girls?

The chair he's sitting on is just to make up for empty space. I have a sketch drawn of the actual chair he'll be sitting in. That armchair will be gone in the real one.
When I'm finished, I'll delete this one and put the real drawing up. Just need to get it up before midnight tonight for the Alice in Wonderland Anime Contest.]]>A Tear for Nepal by Pabbit_da_Rabbiturn:uuid:da4aa195-e7df-d18f-4c8a-4e931210e9552007-06-07T21:33:24-07:00A project for my art class: take an image and draw it using tissue paper, modge podge, and acrylic. I tissue-papered the main image, gluing it to the thick cardboard using modge podge (which is like a glue), and then painted in the details and smoothened certain parts out using acrylic.
A very time-consuming project, considering the painting is 18 by 24 inches big. Took perhaps a month and a half, about 5 hours a week.
The girl is a Nepali, taken from a photo from the National Geographic, November 2005. The photo was taken in Daulatpur after the insurgency killed about 13000 Nepali citizens.
Done from a picture reference with some alterations.
Acrylic (with some tempera) paint
Over 10 hours...?

I need to work more on painting faces so that it doesn't become saturated and so that I don't use acrylic like watercolor, which I tend to do.
Yeah, so just a practice done from a magazine ad where I changed the woman's face to something more youthful and slightly anime-ish. (So, what's the category for this then? I hope the one I chose is okay)

Sonja eats chile whole.
Chile spicy.
Sonja scream in pain.
Nice warm fire.
Moral? Don't eat chiles whole. :)
Yeah, so basically, I redesigned Sonja because that other style and clothes I did her in wasn't very practical and not really my style. So here is the improved Erlena Sonja Evans! I got bored of my current art project, so I asked my friend what to draw, and she gave me this book, so I painted the back. Fun.

Finished December 6, 2006. Took many hours, since you have to dot it with acrylic rather than straight-on paint it.
Oh, and the bright flash is because of my camera. The picture is 22 by 15 inches, so I can't scan it directly.]]>
