Spongebob is a nerd though. Your interpretation of Spongebob only shows him by clothes. He needs a nerdier expression, his features look a little too soft. I really don't see a human form of Spongebob in this picture. It looks like humans dressed UP in a Spongebob Squarepants theme. I don't even like the show, and no doubt you know how to draw well, in this particular field (manga), but it was a bad idea to mix something so surrealistic to suddenly be restricted by the realism of manga.

Spongebob looks like a kid in this when he's an adult. He works at the Krusty Krab. Patrick looks like a kid as well. Squid looks like a teenager from some random anime that no one has heard of. Patrick looks like a fat kid.

but in my case, this was the solution.

Quite good! Pat looks a little weird, but it's still good. Squid looks grumpy and generally PO'd, which is perfect. I LOVE how you did Spongebob! And the fact he's holding a spatula! Great job!
