I really tried to add the following to my comment, but it didn't seem to save... I really love the illustrative quality of this picture... It looks a bit like an ink wash or photoshop in the background, with either black marker or India Ink for the nice clean linear outlines... I love this style! *faves*

Other people deserve a good chance and no one gets one, at least on DeviantART, they give new people who are getting started the front page so they can get some coverage and you don't have to be a God to be on the front page, it's stupid.

I kind of agree with you. I think this picture was done well, yeah, but I've also seen other really nice pictures which I guess, in FAC's eyes, weren't good enough, and it does seem like they overlook a lot. But this picture is still very good.

It's not whether you like or dislike it, it's how good it is. This was done very well. And the same people probably get it because they draw well, and things that are drawn well are featured. It's very simple, really.

I like the combined style of shading. It's part inked and part... what, markers? It looks really good, either way.
