This kind of thing is the reason i wanted photoshop so badly, so I figured I may as well learn how to do it sooner or later.
This is my first shot at realistic digital painting so go easy on me please? I am especially not proud of the hair, i still dont know how to do that. Still.
I chose Avril because she is one of my favorite singers.
This took about two hours with photoshop cs3 and like half an hour figuring out how to do it anyway.
for anyone who wants to know:
1.) i took a pretty simple sketch of Avril and opened it up in photoshop.
2.) I used several foregrounds that were in gray and black with some white and a lot of different opacities to get the painted look.
3.) I used wet media brush heads for the painting and coloring with some dry media and faux finish
4.) Before coloring, so the shading and depth would come through, i added a second layer with the blending option or setting: multiply. Then the shading and what not came through,
obviously more people know that than i think because i am always wrong, but i will probably forget myself, so i can come back for that then.
I hope to do more portraits like this, and i want to figure out how to do the hair more acurately, for anyone who knows how to do that.
Any ideas are welcome for the next protrait.
