(Not the winner.) But I do love drawing full moons, and by now I guess inverted colored-pencil drawings are one of my trademark styles; there's just no way to describe that sense of accomplishment from spending long hours shading by faith, only at the end to scan & invert the piece and (for the very first time) view it as it was truly meant to be seen.
Used a different brand of pencils this time; good smooth lines but they couldn't shade like I was hoping to, so I ended up spending many hours drawing in each and every one of those little bitty scales. I shorted myself a lot of sleep that night, but it was worth it.
Anyone interested in seeing the original (non-inverted) drawing as it appeared on paper can view it in my deviantArt Scraps, here.
Nicely done. Beautigul detail. I like that you spend alot of time on this; it shows. I like that if that green were inverted in ms paint, it would be that color of purple.
Smart.
Wow. How tall is that dragon anyway? That dark night sky is very...I don't even know what words to use. I find myself doing that a lot these days....but, this picture is very pretty(I know saying "pretty" seems weak)! That dragon has elegance!
me want that pic! very pretty and i want to write this dragan on my next story if thats okay with you. with your permission.cause its so pretty and like i said b4 i want that pic. so realistic. the way the colors are colored
Good job, and nice style of coloring. I would like to see a bit more contrast in value to give it a bit more depth and detail. Other than that keep up the good work.
Excellent work as always, Stratadrake. It's absolutely gorgeous! I love how the fusha contrasts with the green. I wouln't have the patience to draw all those itty-bitty scales myself. Job well done!
Oh gosh, If I didn't know that it was possible to draw something this amazing, I would have thought this was partley computer made.I love the colors you used, and the shading done.vThe scales are pretty cool, and the anatomy looks completely accurate (for a mythological creature ;D) I can't wait to see more dragons from you!
Don't thank me on the composition or anatomy, I didn't create those aspects, Ulario on deviantART did that (sheesh people, read the descriptions) and I'm basically just responsible for the coloring.
I did read the description... but I'm weird and I don't get it. Plus half the time I'm doing this I'm half asleep. The coloring is still awsome, and I'm glad you did the scales. Sorry if I offended with my first comment...
Very impressive. Your ability to colour backwards, as it were, is quite remarkable. You gave this dragon a great amount of shape and the background is also rendered wonderfully. Your sense of shading is impeccable.
