November 6, 2007 - Selphius

Selph portrait done last year during the first semester of Visual Design II. It looks nothing like me.

The horribly done cursive in the bottom right says: "My knight in shining armour turned out to be a jerk in aluminium foil." STORY OF MY LIFE GAIZ. Except Mark. He's win.

Media: Colored pencil, prisma marker, charcole, pen, watercolor, masking tape, and lined paper.

i like the awkwaredness of the pice. its very well done. if i had a fave part of the pictuer. it would most likely be the face.

This picture has some interesting qualities. From a purely critical viewpoint, it's a very mature, if angst-filled, image which juxtaposes harsh geometric shapes in non-confirming image composition with the organic, somewhat softened and muted portrait, which has a more traditional placement in the layout. If the writing represents the state of mind, the image definitely supports it. It's really very good. And yes, my armour will prove to be of the steel variety, I promise.
