Her parents always abused her, almost beating her to death on many occasions. She hated life so much she actually tried to kill herself with a poison, unfortunately it didn't work and she ended up having to remove her own left arm.
She learned medical jutsu in her room by herself, and trained tracking taijutsu whenever she could escape her home. She ended up replacing her arm with a mechanical one which she built since she knew anatomy from her medical books well wnough to establish a chakra flow through it. There is a knife built into it and in one of her more advance jutsu it become surrounded by an electric current, forming into a whip-like thing.
She killed her parents out of rage one day, and went on to kill other villages because she loved the feeling of it. The akatsuki got wind of her and decided they could use a tracker ninja to find the Jinchuuriki and since she was also a medic, she could increase their survical rate. Once she met Deidara in the Akatsuki she joined right away by retrieving The akatsuki ring from Orochimaru. [she cut off his hand]
