Sparks stood staring up at the chained up creature. "I see you've met the priest."

"Yeah, apparently he doesn't like it when you yell and curse at him in Latin." Mephiles laughed, ignoring the fact his burns were steaming still.

I tried ever so hard on Mephiles...his spikes are hard to draw...DX But they do kinda make him look more evil. *shrugs*

Okay, inspiration. I was writing chapter 7 (yes, WOW, I can write that many chapters or more!) of Subject to Slavery...at the end, Sparks and Mephiles are both captured. Mephiles actually is dragged by rune-inscribed shackles that prevent him from using any abilities or powers...save for some limited last possible ones...anywho, at one point he does yell at them in Latin.

'Liberatio mihi, moratlis! Liberatio mihi vel facies the presencia of the Diabolus sese!'

'Release me, mortal! Release me or face the power of the Devil, himself!'

Yeah...I would see why a priest would dislike Mephiles...Mephiles = Mephistopheles = Devil....yeah....

Anywho...I classify Mephiles, especially in Subject to Slavery, as a demon...full-blooded and mega-powerful demon...with weaknesses to holy things or specially demon-binding items....*shrugs* I'm trying here.
