Kay's Wardrobe

Before I say anytihng, MEGA props to TyChou. This fashion show thing was her idea. I hope you don't mind I did something very similar. Here's the pic

I feel kinda guilty for using the idea and I didn't ask so I'm sorry. I hope it's ok. I worked hard on this and I was originally gonna do something else, but I started sketching and it came out cute.

Okies, let me explain. In "Sunshine and Moonshine" Kay has a few changes in wardrobe. I made up all these little outfits for her to wear each season and a few extras she wears at other times. The only one that is not originally mine is the school uniform. That belongs to Yugioh. The coloring and alterations are mine, though.

So, I wanted to show off each little outfit, what season it belongs to, and give some details on it. So, enjoy. Admire the Chibi Kays.

Outfit 1- Pre-Battle City.

Since Duelist Kingdom is hardly featured, I gave it the title Pre Battle-City. Kay often wore these short black dresses with either tights and boots, tights and heels, or jeans and heels. I prefer it with jeans and heels, but it looks cute the way I drew it so I chose not to screw it up.

She was a lot less kind at this point, hence the expression. This was her old favorite outfit. She was also kind of mourning, in a sense, hence her liking of black. Kay's never been able to truly get over what happened to her mom and big sister and she's been a loner ever since. It was somewhat formal and could be passed off as casual which was another reason she liked it.

My least favorite outfit of the five seasons, but I still like it.

Outfit 2- Battle City

One of the more known looks. Kay changed it up a bit when she got more comfortable with Domino and she was a little tired of her black dress. She was going for a more bold appearance and wanted to be conservative at the same time so she combined a tube top and a white jacket. The color is also a sign that she's more social and is kind of coming out of her type of solitude and is more willing to be social.

She threw on simple jeans and her favorite boots and wears her hair with various style, but usually just puts it in a pull-back for simplicity. This outfit is a favorite of hers because it's comfortable and good on many occasions. It was worn through-out all of the Battle City tournament.

Not a high favorite, but I still like it.

Outfit 3- Waking the Dragons

This is a new one. I decided to add in this season instead of a filler since I got most of the DVDs. I also want to say part of the idea was inspired by a pic Cat drew of Seto and Kay in the snow. So thank you Cat!

Alrighty. As Waking the Dragons begins, Kay goes out and finds that dress on sale and she liked it so she bought it. She also personalized it with her special tear-drop. Then she found those boots and made a special outfit.

Kay finds it cute and the slightly girlier look is a sign she's starting to develop stronger feelings for Seto and is seeking to impress him. And it's starting to work.

I would so wear this one.

Outfit 4- KC Grand Prix

We all know this one, but I changed it from a tube top to a long halter top to differentiate it more from Battle City.

While the gang is staying with Rebecca and Prof. Hawkins, Kay experiments with her old jacket, a new shirt, and a personalized pair of jeans. She flips her hair into a special flared ponytail.

Kay is now officially proving she is starting to care more how she looks. (NO! She's crossed to Dark side! JK) At this point in the series, she REALLY wants to look pretty. She knows looks aren't everything, but she really wants Seto to notice her a bit more.

Kay is more cute and sweet now and he does notice her and starts to notice his own feelings for her.

Outfit 5- Dawn of the Duel

The final Yugioh saga (but it still won't end my story.) Kay gets a trench coat for...I guess it's just a gift for helping out with Industrial Illusions card designs from Pegasus or something. I never really feel the need ot explain things like this.

Well, she wears it when she goes to Egypt (Which seems so stupid...oh well) and is teased by Jounouchi and Alex about being a mini-Kaiba.

She is starting to worry more about her priorities and not so much her look, but the flared ponytail is a sign she still cares but the removal of an clips in her hair (the flower from KC Grand Prix) is also showing she's kind of maturing a little bit more. Seto still likes this look on her. He thinks it's cute and suits her, not that he admits it to anyone.

I love this one too!!

Outfit 6- Khephera's Outfit/Ancient Egypt

I feel bad. Cat drew a gorgeous outfit for Khephera, but I didn't have to referance so I didn't get it right. But I love my version too so...you know, yeah. I guess Khephera has two main outfits. ^_^

Anywho, when Kay and Seto are sent back in time, Kay is mistaken for Khephera and needs to wear her clothes and play the part. She meets up with Atemu and Luna (Cat) this way.

Kay also has Seth there and he has feelings for her. She kisses him a little while after Kisara dies, meaning it to be on the cheek, but it accidently winds up as lip lock, getting Seto jealous. After they are returned to the present, her normal clothes return.

I like it because it's cute and pretty. Kay also liked it when she wore it. ^_^

Outfit 7- "Black Cat"

Kay's famous alias, the Black Cat. Her secret dueling and Dungeon Dice monster identity. Black Cat is the champion in both Duel Monsters and D.D.N in all of Europe.

She is invited to participate in the KC Grand Prix as both Kay and the Black Cat and she enters under Black Cat.

Nobody other than Pegasus, Adelinda, and a few other people know her identity, not even Seto. Kay based the costume off her old black dress style. She also uses the disguise as an excuse to flirt with Seto so he won't suspect it's her.

The Black Cat has a lot of fans, as KC Grand Prix will prove. She beats Zigfried and bows out of a duel with Leon after tying so he can follow his dream to duel Yugi. Everyone loves her mysterious vibe and some think it's Kay, but she denies it and goes through soem fairly great lengths to hide her identity.

I like how it came out, and it took a long time to perfect.

Outfit 8- School Uniform

Kay wears this whenever she attends Domino High. It is worn a few times in the story. She sewed on an extra layer to lengthen her skirt and dyed her jackets.

Kay has three styles. A light blue jacket with dark blue skirt, the maroon jacket and black skirt, and a light green jacket with dark green skirt. I am considering making an off-white jacket and black skirt as well.

Her uniform is comfortable and she likes it. She also was able to bribe and threaten the school board to tolerate her changes.

Outfit 9- Work Suit (I had no better name)

Kay will wear this once or twice in the story, but it's actually a pretty important outfit.

She wears this to work when she goes to Industrial Illusions and sometimes to buisiness meetings. It's a comfortable outfit and she likes how she looks.

Kay also wears glasses with it because she feels it's more professional. She actually wears contacts (not colored ones, just plain contacts) so she can see far away. The glasses are perscription but she does not wear them too often unless she's working or does not want to pop in contacts.

Later she plans to get laser eye surgery.

I like it because you see her professional, serious side.

Phew. These are the main outfits. There are going to be a few more after the main Yugioh sagas end, but I haven't spent time concerning myself with how it all will look. The only one I may use is a small knock-off of Kay's Dawn of the Duel outfit.

I hope you like it. This pic took me three days of effort just to color and at least a full day to draw right.

I referenced the hood...thing on the Black Cat from a pic of Ishizu and the school uniform from a random pic of Anzu in the manga. Poses are mine and I think that covers it.
