This self portrait was done about 3 or 4 years ago the same year my mother died, in a way it is a memento of one of my most difficult years at school.
My school like most Scottish schools runs art projects a little diffrently when compared to American schools. in our 3rd year of High school we spend an entire year working on an expressive peice that has to be either Self Portrait or Still life, as i personaly find still life a little boring i decided to have fun with expressions in a self portrait.
That thing going around the screeming face is the eyehole of a dog skull my teacher has in his room along with the skulls of other beloved family pets. For the eyehole i used pait and for the rest chalk pastel was used. |
