Five years after the third impact,humanity has returned to Earth and has began to flourish.Misato Katsuragi,former major of Nevr head quarters has since moved on with her life.When Nerv disbanded she took a day job at a drug rehab center as a creative writing teacher and at night she works at a suicide hotline as an operator.She has regrets about all that has happened during and after third impact and misses the pilots of the Eva's (especially Shinji).But doesn't really miss her former friend Ritsuko(A.K.A the lying backstabbing dog).While she doesn't like her day job too much she doesn't mind working with some of the people there.She has grown wiser but is slightly more ditsy then when she was younger.Misato lives next door to Makoto Hyuuga & Shigeru Aoba and at times plays poker or has some small talk with them.She still drink a lot,though not as much as she used too and has been having more one night stands then in her younger days.
In her free time she goes to the bookstore (the same one where Shinji works at) to sit down and read.She often notices the young woman who works there could very well pass for Shinji's older sister(if he had one).At times when, she got herself lost looking for a particular book the young woman was more the willing to help her and some how they ended up chatting for 25 minutes or more. The young woman has the exact same dark blue eyes as Misato's former charge did bring back a flood of memories,and misato could help but thinking she saw a look of wistfulness in the younger woman's eyes (but brushed it off as nothing but her imagination).
