No Melina is not dead!! lol. She can use the wind to travel to places so this is basically her right before she turns solid again.
Alright so I was listening to the song Can't Walk Away by Tiffany Evans and I thought that song had similarities to the relationship between Kazuma and Melina. Of course, this song is from Melina's point of view. Unfortunatly, I can't find the lyrics online so I typed up a section myself >_>

I also decided to add my own little twist and having that windy ghost looking Melina saying the quote on the picture.

I will disappear into the Whispering Sands..."
And noooo, the quote Melina is saying is not saying that she can't live without Kazuma. What she is saying is that if he chooses to leave, she won't follow him and she will disappear from his life so he won't have to worry about her anymore.
I tried keeping Kazuma's more stiff and untouched behavior in this picture...hope I succeeded x_x
