Roz: Let Sor-Mel go!
Atlas: You want her? Then you and I must duel!

Although I rarely draw pictures based off rps, especially the ones I *ahem* play act, there was no way I wasn't going to draw something from this one. I actually didn't intend to draw Sor-Mel and the Smeet, or the background in the first place, but my pencil wouldn't let me stop. ;)

Long story time!

This scene takes place around the middle of the story in which Atlas has taken Sor-Mel to be one of his test subjects. The story actually begins during a war between Irkens and Vortians, Irk being the main battlefield. While Roz and his buddy Rotor were patrolling the area around the base, and happed upon a pregnant Vortian struggling under some debris. Even though they were at war with the Vortians, Roz wasn't the kind of heartless Irken that would just leave anyone in Sor-Mel's condition to die. Plus, he's also been somewhat different from other Irkens, and Rotor has always known this, so it didn't take long for him to agree to help Sor-Mel. Sor-Mel didn't take kindly to being helped by Irkens, and wasn't too thrilled with the idea of her future child growing up in a society where Irkens enslave Vortians.

After plenty of bickering, Sor-Mel reluctantly allowed the two Irkens to take her to the infirmary where she could recover. The wounded Irkens weren't happy about a Vortian among them, but the doctor (who'd rather have a peaceful end to the war) wasn't one to turn away anyone in need. Through talking to Sor-Mel, Roz learned that her mate left her after finding out she was pregnant even though they had plans for marriage. Sor-Mel was more or less thrown into war because there was a shortage of Vortian soldiers. Though she had been trained in combat, she was mostly a researcher on Vort's science team. She also had resentment for the Vortians that had left her for dead in the lastest battle. Roz ended up falling in love with her and would go out of his way to see her, asking Rotor to cover for him. Sor-Mel too began to have feelings for Roz, even if she didn't want to believe or admit it. And Rotor continued to try and talk his friend out of doing what he was doing, but it was to no avail.

Eventually, Roz decided that the only way they could be together was if they left Irk and found somewhere else to live. Roz was able to convince Rotor to come with them by asking him if he ever wanted to be something more than an Irken soldier. The doctor found out about the plan and prepared a kit of medical supplies for when Sor-Mel would give birth. He also taught Roz how to handle the ordeal. So they wouldn't get caught, Roz came up with the plan to fake his and Rotor's deaths by remote-controlling Rotor's cruiser to crash into a building. After this was done, the trio left in a different cruiser when the battling quieted down. The next phase was to go to Food Courtia for enough food to last them for a long time. When they arrived, Rotor stayed with the cruiser while the others went to get food. When Roz wasn't paying attention, Atlas (who was keeping watch on Sor-Mel) kidnapped Sor-Mel and took her to his lair where the above scene takes place. He had left Irk long ago so he could perform strange tests in peace. He kidnapped the Smeet long ago and needed a Vortian so he could do the classic villain thing of switching bodies and stuff. He, like most villains, isn't very bright (his machine is broken, haha!), but has his moments of victory.

So Roz trailed Atlas and the rest can be seen in the pic. He gets trapped as well after a fight; Rotor comes to help with others who dislike Atlas; Sor-Mel is rescued; the Smeet is not for comedic effect (like the blob in "Abducted"); they leave Food Courtia and head for Devastis; other stuff happens that involves adventure-like stuff that I haven't thought up yet; etc.

End long story time! Lol.

P.S: The inspiration for this was my Titanic soundtrack that I listened to in my car one day. Some of it also came from Hemingway's A Farewell to Arms, which I read a few years back. My story reminded me of that book in some ways. My story's not as depressing though. XP

Self-Critique

I absolutely LOVE this picture and worked hard on the coloring and some of the shading. I don't see many problems with it except for Atlas' head being kinda' big and the Smeet kinda' poorly drawn...it was a last minute idea to put him in. Anyway, I'm really happy with this!
