Meet Yu. She's wearing a kimono, despite the fact that she's Chinese, I know... but there's a biiiiig backstory to this.

Ironically, Yu's name means a variety of things: jade, honor, happy, or rain. She's definitely not happy, and her death was hardly honorable.

Yu, you see, is a vengeful spirit.

The night of her wedding, Yu had been bustling around in a very large, old Chinese castle her husband was residing in (it was no longer a castle by this point). She had found some pretty old kimonos in the basement, and had tried one on.

Upon going upstairs to show her fiance, she was shocked to find him in bed with another woman. Yu quite literally snapped, going insane. She grabbed a ceremonial dagger her fiance kept in the room, killed both him and the woman, then ran to her room on the sixth floor and flung herself out the window.

Yu now haunts the sixth floor of the now-inn, screaming and moaning and wailing, attacking anyone who gets too close. She does not recognize friend from foe... she only knows that a man and a woman betrayed her, and so, everyone is her enemy. She always carries the dagger she used in the double-murder, her kimono is stained forever with their blood, and her own blood runs down her face and neck. Her left hand is skeletal. I don't know why. I just thought it looked cool.
Yu is c/o me. |
