I'm really happy with this, and I'd have to say it's one of my best sketches... but the scanner kinda killed it. >.> I suggest seeing the deviantart version to see it well,and click for full view to be able to appreciate it well.

Anyway...
This work is originally supposed to define black and white, the girl(white) and the guy (black), but I decided to define red too. I made their personalities contrast the shades represented though.
BTW, the red thread is a Japanese cultural reference. It is said that a red thread binds those who are destined lovers, usually wrapped around the pinky fingers of each party.
To believe in the red thread is analogous to believing in soulmates.
