What I get from this- He likes coffee and the newspaper, he's from Germany, he reads, he's a good shot, she survived a war, He wears jewelry, he smokes, and he likes the colors orange and blue... How'd I do?

Pretty good, lov. The ring he wears it for the memories of his dead girlfriend, not for fashion; she died while they were trying to escape from Germany and yeah, he's quite a surviver for that he survived the explosion of the truck which took his lady away from him. The blue represents his apparent calm nature (not to mention the color of his eyes); the orange stands more for his deceased beloved's hair. LOL, I haven't seen teh show since I was like 10, they stopped airing it on CN so I couldn't watch anymore, and I can't find the manga.

If you do happen to know a location where I CAN watch the show or read the manga I'm open for suggestions.
