She's a GMO created by Eggman later in the future.

GMO background:
GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms) are products of Eggman in attempts to make another - possibly stronger - killing machine like Shadow, but loyal to him and to his power. They are able to use their own alterations to an extent to fight and will continue to fight until death or utter exhaustion. Due to this, many die by their own hand, and this built-in willingness to fight and kill can also result in turning onto oneself and eventually suicide or insanity (the latter the most frequent.)
GMOs' powers/abilities can also harm them, either immediately or over time. Many of them die the first time they attempt to use their power, or die when they use all their energy to tap into the entirety of their power.
They also tend to be attracted to certain things and do not easily get attached to other GMOs or people.

Age 5: Gwenalynne was assigned her team and acted like any normal girl would, but she began to find entertainment in torturing small animals and fell in love with stars.

Age 13: Gwenny fights a little more in her team and is relied on heavily. She still can't stop herself from hurting little animals such as rabbits. She began to like being 'dressed up' a little more but refused to ever let someone trim her quills.

Age 17: She gets an outfit change due to outgrowing her old one, but it's not much different from her first one. She finds her social step in her team and takes a lot of charge. She also begins to bully her team-mates enough to cause pain.

Age 25: Gwenalynne acquires bracelets and a belt to wear due to using her powers often. These belts act as a way to keep her blood flowing and blood cells reproducing at a quick rate. With the help of these, she learns how to use more of her blood as weapons/defense. At this point, she's considered a 'stable' GMO, for she is one of the only ones who has no turned on herself to the point of suicide or insanity.

Age 36: Gwenny has a mental breakdown and it remains permanent. She is forced to bandage her wrists due to overuse of her powers and she split from her team. Her break was caused by sexual molestation and abuse by another GMO. She is unstable both mentally and emotionally and hardly speaks. She lost most enjoyment in simple things and does not allow anyone to touch her or come near her.
