The 32nd Gate

In Dragon Warrior Monsters, there's a secret 32nd gate, which can only be unlocked via a GameShark cheat code (011F35C9). It was rumoured the end-of-level boss for this gate was supposed to be Darkdrium, the most powerful monster in the game. It was also rumoured that the gate could be unlocked by catching all 215 monsters.

If you do plan on entering the gate, a word of warning: the dungeon inside consists of 98 floors, filled with increasingly tough monsters. And if you do manage to get to the end *[SPOILER ALERT]* ... there's nothing in the 99th room. Darkdrium was meant to be there, but the developers ran out of time and/or cartridge space. Discovering that was a real disappointment for me... so I drew a 99th room, with a Darkdrium, instead.

It's not quite the same, but it's the closest I'll get to battling the real thing.

Sketched with a 0.3 mechanical pencil; background done with medium and fine ball-point pens, cloak with red permanent marker, strange rune-like symbols with silver pen. Had to use a reference, as I find drawing anything even remotely human-shaped very, very difficult. Comments welcome! :)
