KHSimulacrum: Too Worn Out...

Kingdom Hearts: Rebirth of the Simulacrum Chapter 11: Disciple of the 13th Trump is now posted!

The lead artist has stepped down because of time constraints, so RedRikuXV and I have decided to do the illustrations for the story now. This is one of mine for this chapter. (Interestingly enough, it's pretty much the only time I've ever been able to get Roxas's hair to look right!)

For those of you not in the know, Rebirth of the Simulacrum is a post KH2 story about what happens to Roxas as he struggles on a quest to find his memories, the answers to the question about the enigmatic Simulacrum, and above all the best friend who had become family whom he can now barely remember. Accompanying him on this journey is the sorceress Rinoa Heartilly (Final Fantasy 8), herself on a mission to recover what she has lost. But with the perils surrounding any information about the Simulacrum on all the various worlds they travel to, the success of their missions is in doubt.

Staggering to his feet, he stumbled over to his target. Reaching out across a nearby crate, Roxas tried to find a suitable grip through the coat of dust and the blades in his hands. He had to get to the wall behind the obstacle, but his muscles felt like water and barely seemed able to hold his weight, even leaning over the top of the box as he was. He couldn’t even get it to shift, and his body was already burning with renewed lassitude. Feelings and images flashed through his mind from the memory, further distracting him from his attempts.

“Sorry, bro. You’re just a memory right now…” Roxas whispered as he gave the crate another futile tug. He leaned against the side for a few moments, the Keyblades nudging at him patiently.
