Devotion by Defiance
Devotion by Defiance

I actually finished this on February 2, 2007. Then I told myself that I'd add a background before I uploaded it.

So, we drag aaaaall the way until now and STILL no background. Heh, shows how much time I have to make stuff for myself. XD

Sooo, if you've done any art trades with me you should be familiar with this character: Nyxis the bat. :3 Actually, her species is a Red Rose LiruKnight on Teripets, but whatever. After working so hard on her, I'm still disappointed because of all the rough edges on this pic. ^^' Maan, I've got a while to go before I can cell-shade like an expert. How do you get those lines so smooth?

Oh well, I'm happy with the pose(I drew around fifty billion before I chose this one X.x) and the overall impression this pic gives me. ^^

I decided to title this piece Devotion for 3 reasons:
1. Nyxis is a general; her job requires her to give her life to protecting the crown...She'll fight for it with valor and probably die for it with valor. She never questions the King(or Queen) she serves, and she's all stoic and tragic hero and stuffs. (Maan I made her cliché <3)
2. Hehe, when I made up Nyxis I didn't really expect to get attached to her. She was just another pet on a petsite. [INSERT IRONY HERE] :3
3. Regardless of the roughness, this picture took me two weeks to finish on and off the computer. (It ended with a headache.) It's practically a miracle for me to work on something that long. @.@

My favorite part of this piece? OMGZ SHINY SWORD SHINE SHINE.

Choco_Chick_87Yay for shinyness! And as for cell-shading, be grateful that you can do it at all, even with rough edges. I wouldn't have the first clue how to do it!
