Expectations

Trainer: Let's try this again, shall we?
Trainee: But we've done target practice all day! Can we please do something else?

So I drew this back in fall when I decided to ride my bike to the park one day with a sketchbook in tow. I probably spent about an hour drawing the characters alone (on an uncomfortable park bench at that!). Months later, I finally finished it. I almost decided not to make a background and keep it simple. I'm glad I didn't listen to myself for once. The only problem I had was that I'd stupidly signed my name and stuff in pen, thinking I was done. It was in the worst possible place too (partially in the right target thing and on the floor) and that's where I got the idea to cover it up with the bars. I actually think it's better that way. :)

The poor Smeet, lol. I'm sure we all know how that feels, huh? :P

Self-Critique

I love this picture. I think it's because I stepped it up a little with the shadows. They're not perfect, but I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've done it like that. It definitely gives it more depth than usual. I also love the color I chose for the wall. I tend to color Irken walls magenta or purple, but I was trying to give it a training area feel. Gray (or slate in this case) makes it look more depressing too, which is neat. Oh, and I'm pleased with how the guns came out this time. They're...somewhat cooler looking than what I've done before...I think. Lol.
