This is something that I wanted to draw anyway, but when CrystalSabre asked me to join her contest (see here, and join! We need more entries! http://forums.fanart-central.net/viewtopic.php?t=42443 ) I thought it was a good time to do it.

Because of the way this site works, I had to keep the image here a bit small so the little details are hard to see. For a larger image, please go here and fullview; http://k-pepper.deviantart.com/#/d48jm6v I really wanted to capture not a dancing "pose" that looks like a pause between steps, people posing for a camera, but the actual motion in the dance, and the emotion. I feel like I managed to do that just a little bit here, so I'm satisfied that I've improved myself a little. :P

Well this took me awhile to draw and paint. The background gets less detailed as it goes back, mostly because I didn't want to take the focus away from the foreground.

Two characters from a recent RP: Davin and Mirabel on their wedding day. It's a universe of me and my boyfriend's creation, and I was attempting to come up with cultural traditions and clothing as I went.

Tradition is for the bride to wear a white dress (as in our culture) and for the groom to wear white pants, both to show purity. (Davin probably shouldn't have been wearing those pants, in that cause, but Mirabel forgives him for being a womanizer in his past. XD ) The red sash draped around Davin's neck is not fastened or tied in any way and falls off easy; Embreen tradition says that however many times the groom's wedding sash falls off during the celebration is how many children he and his new bride will have. Of course, this means that playful friends tend to teasingly pull it off all throughout the day!

The wraps around waist and ankles on him are more practical; it's a dry, dusty climate in Embreen, and that's designed to keep the grit and sand out. Long, billowing sleeves protect his arms from the sun. As he's not Embree, he'd probably end up with a mean sunburn. Were he Embree like Mirabel, he'd probably be sleeveless.

Those darned bricks took quite awhile. I'm glad they kinda looked aright in the end. :x The fullview is pretty large because, on the characters at least, there's quite a lot of detail that I wanted to show. Anyway! Enough rambling. I don't think anyone's still reading anyway.

Thank you so much! I keep forgetting this was for a contest, since I wanted to paint it anyway. XD I'm glad you liked the cultural stuff; I was afraid it'd be boring. ^^;

It wasn't boring in the least! In fact, I would say it made the picture more enjoyable, since I now understand it better.

HE is like....like a wanderer that comes to a fancy village and meets one of the natives that serves for the castle! -As a cleaner! And then he is actually a rich wanderer that sells antiques and buys her a fancy dress and some hair flowers, and they dance on the most romantic spot everrrrrr.

And that is my lame story to explain this. <3 Love the ruffles and movement! This looks like a possible winning entry homedawgh!

LOL! You're so funny. Yes... way off. XD To add to the story- he's actually the king of the foreign land he came from... Hehe! Thanks so much for the comment. <3 Some of this was tedious, but it was hecku fun to do. Contest or no contest, this would have gotten painted sooner or later!

Blaaarg, life likes to come at you all at once. I've had NO time to paint since this picture and it's making me saaaaaad.

The colours here are so vibrant and the background looks amazing. :) I love your choice of colours for the background too since it allows the forground to stand out :D

Aah, that was me trying to make floofy, baggy pants that didn't shrink-wrap to him. I should've added more wrinkles! lol. Probably more shadow there too so it didn't look like it sticks out. Thanks so much for the compliments, and the advice. :D I think your comment cut off mid-sentence though!
