I was at the Met a couple weeks ago to see an exhibition of Dutch and Flemish painting. Northern Renaissance and Baroque paintings are just the best, and I got to see a lot of my favorite works by Franz Hals, Rubens, Ruisdael, etc. It was all inspiring and stuff to see them in person.

So here's a portrait of Rosalina from Super Mario Galaxy, after a painting by Anthony van Dyck.

moppyXDCool! The hands look a little weird, but you really captured the Renaisance feel :)

KaptainHThanks! Van Dyck would always try to super-idealize people in his portraits, and he would make everybody's hands super long and limp, almost like there's no bones in them. I think it was supposed to be a throwback to the "gracefulness" of the Gothic style, but it's kind of creepy on more realistic people. I'm glad you noticed that.
