This is a portrait sketch of a fanfic character based off of the Sailor Moon series. He's a Dragon with the ability to take on human form. Named Manzer, he's an ally to the senshi. I'd love some comments on this drawing since I consider myself not that good at drawing either guys or dragons

moomeister3Hello there! I really like this picture. The guy looks great and his hair as well. The dragon is really unique. Overall I'd have to say that it is pretty awesome. Hope to see it colored!

NeoCelestialStarI think I will do a color version of this pic. I'll also re-draw the dragon in a seperate pic by himself to better get used to proportions. I'll get those new pics up as soon as they're done. Thanks for the encouragment.

AstronamymageOn the dragon, the wing on the right shouldn't be so vertical on the body, it should look more horizontal. The left eye of the dragon should be a tiny bit further back. His right arm is far too long compared to the left one. (or the left one too short compared to the right one) You should only be able to see the claws hanging onto the boy's neck at the most or make the left arm longer. The right leg is also too far to the left. What I do to help solve this placement problem is I draw arms and legs all the way in pencil and just draw over it. No erasing. For example, I would have drawn the boy and then drawn the dragon, but drawn the arm through his neck and then go over in ink and it gets rid of the lines that aren't supposed to be there in the end. That seems to help me keep proportion.
If you don't like how you draw dragons, look at a few of other people's styles and see what you like and take what you like from each drawing and practice always helps. Personally, I don't think you are all that bad at drawing dragons.
I don't think you are bad at drawing guys either. Ogrimis right, he should have a slightly thicker if not also a little shorter neck. You did a great job on the face and hair. Personally, I can't do hair for beans. :P Keep up the drawing, you aren't as bad as you think.
ps. I would love to see this pic colored.

NeoCelestialStarRebus - Thanks for the critique on this piece. This was actually my first attempt at drawing a dragon. I'll be the first to admit I'm not that good at them. Hopefully I'll improve as I do more pics!

RebusI love the detail on this piece, you do hair in particular very well.

I'm a little uncertain about the position of the dragons left eye (as the viewer looks at the page), I'd have thought we shouldn't be able to see that much of it. Also on the right of the picture, the wing seems awfully think where it meets the body of the dragon.

But the guy is brillaint and the overall picture is very effective :)

Ogrim_Doomhammeri dont like the dragon because of his beak but he looks cool, the guys face is amazing but you should make him a thicker neck
