The Ghost Of Love

The Ghost Of Love

The Ghost Of Love by NeversideFaerie

I got the idea for this picture from the song "Ghost Of Love" by Simply Red. It came out sometime after I'd watched the Corpse Bride and it always makes me think of the film.

"...and don't be afraid of the ghost of love
It'll haunt you as long as you want
The ghost of love
A round of applause and a toast for love
Get most from love
With hope from above."

I suppose Emily is something of a "ghost of love". (Spoiler alert!) Throughout their marriage, Victor and Victoria will constantly remember her sacrifice for them and be haunted by the tragedy of her death at the hand of wicked Lord Barkis. This theme is often touched upon in stories by PlayerPiano on - her works are so good I consider them to be the film's canon.

I have now managed to get my head around some of GIMP's features, such as the programme's ability to "layer" pictures, which was very useful as I created this image.

P.S. On a different note, I was a bit surprised a while ago to find out Simply Red had done some new songs. I thought they'd broken up, but maybe that was just temporary.

NeversideFaerieSo nice to see you on here! This site's getting old now (for a website) and could do with support. I learned about it from a lady I'm following on DeviantArt, who said that her favourite art website closed down not long ago, and that she'd resorted to going here (and DA) instead.

LupineVanDortVery nice to see you here as well! I really enjoy this site and I am glad to support it! It is getting a bit old, however, the site itself is still a good one! I can't wait to speak with you here along with speaking with you on DA.

NeversideFaerieI like the fact you can personalise the text in your comments by making it a different font or bolder or more colourful.
