This is a piece of Art homework. At the moment, we are doing Surrealism. During the lesson, me and my group did an Automatic Poem: a poem where someone writes a random word, folds over the paper and passes it on. Then the next person writes a random word, folds it over and passes it on. This goes on until the pieces of paper reaches the person who wrote the first word. In my case, I got the words Monkeys, Thorns, Emotional and Fantasy. We had to take the poem home and draw the words in a surreal way. In this picture, I show two monkeys, one of which resembles punk pop/Emo/ Alternative Rock band Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz. There are thorns on top of the light fitting Pete is swinging from, and another in his side. This was inspired by Pete Wentz's book, "The Boy With The Thorn In His Side". The book is about a boy who has horrible nightmares, and many people think it is about Pete himself. The Emotional is portrayed by Pete's Tears (Sadness) the smiling face balanced on top of the light fitting, and the slightly angry concern of the Unicorn. Said unicorn represents fantasy, the unicorn being a fantasy character. Also, the second monkey, modeled on me, is in the unicorns arms, as though being rescued. To be rescued is a fantasy of many girls. Finally, the unicorn looks like Andy Hurley, drummer from Fall Out Boy. This is purely random. Please comment.
