Thanx! They are called Clans, by the way, led by a dominant female, the males tend to wander while the females raise the young (like humans!) At least in Spotted Hyenas, the Brown Hyenas raise their young communaly.
I don't know much about the beautiful Striped Hyena.
And yes, the Spotted Hyena has some of the most powerful chompers on Earth, I've read about an ancient Hyena called Hyeanadon Gigas, that was a giant, 3? meters long, I bet they could take down mammoths...

So yeah, I’ve read some of your comments and I think it’s obvious that you’re one of those Hyenic-Advocates.. So am I! (Except I appreciate the lions as well as the hyenas) So the hyena may seem a foul to the naked-eye, so it may seem to be a cowardly mutt (Mustelid actually but who cares right?? *sarcasmy*) It’s still a beauty of nature, you people just aren’t looking past his mangy drooly mug XD

The hyena possesses a maw with the power to slice your face CLEAN OFF. I’ve seen incidents like that thanks to the morbid wonders of the internet but they’re much too graphic for me to ‘advertise’ here ^_^;;

The Lion King did stress on Hyenic cowardice, and subordinance. At least they made a subtle mentioning of the strength of the female in a hyena clan or whatever the name of the grouping is. I liked that..
