The Wirrn are a lot like the Brood (Who came much later) in Marvel comics, they both implant their eggs within host bodies, when the egg hatches it transforms the host body into a new member of the species, with all of the host's knowledge and memories added to their own. Unlike the Brood, the Wirrn were not originally a race of conquerers, they lived peacefully in the Andromeda galaxy, using mindless "cattle" as hosts (The Wirrn have a racial memory, so the new Wirrn would be intelligent, even if the host wasn't). Unfortunately, a race of vicious conquerers known as Humans arrived, attacked the Wirrn, destroyed their breeding gounds, their cattle, and most of their race as well. The few survivors fled into space, where they could survive in the vacuum. Eventually one Wirrn Queen came across a ship full of cryogenically frozen humans, the "last" survivors of Earth, and boarded the "Ark". Sadly, she was killed by the "Ark's" automated weapons systems...but not before she implanted an egg in a human engineer, who, in turn, infected the leader, knicnamed "Noah". Noah transformed into a Wirrn and began laying eggs all over the station, (Despite needing host bodies, they hatched anyways), and soon had a small nest, ready to take their revenge on humanity while gaining all of the knowledge of the "sleepers" at the same time. After some bloodshed, "Noah" led the Wirrn nest into space aboard a shuttle, and purposely allowed the damaged vessel to explode, killing the entire nest. I still don't see why he killed them after they ceased being a threat to human survival...but in the words of a great philosopher "Whoever said the human race was logical?"<br />
