This is ~eponagirl's prize that she asked for after winning TheZeldaCollection's competition on dA last year.
I don't like the chunky/war/shire horse looking version in the LoZ official artwork. I think Epona is an elegant name & I also have a bad habit for slimming things down without realising anyway. All the human/iod characters get drawn in many different ways & no one bats an eyelid, the same should go for animals too. X)
This was a joy to draw, I was a bit nervous while colouring her as I was afraid I'd mess it up with rarely ever doing animals.
I had a main reference pic to work from plus several others to help me with some details I couldn't make out. I also remembered tips & looked at some horse drawing tutorials to help me too.
Freehand, pencil crayons & biro on A4.

she is beautiful! excellent job. A *TINY* weenie crit though, is watch the chest area, before her front legs, it's a bit more musculer and will help the general look of her neck...whooo that didnt make sense did it? oh well. i like it a lot ^__^ very good jobLanayru on March 8, 2007, 8:48:58 AM
