"The Bowtruckle is a tree guardian...immensely difficult to spot, being small (maximum eight inches in height) and apparently made of bark and twigs with two small brown eyes."<br />

The Bowtruckle lives in wand-wood trees, and if the tree that it lives in is threatened, it will attempt to gauge at the attacker's eyes with its long fingers. An offering of woodlice will placate the beast.
