In a strange twist of fate, and a near-miss encounter with Battousai, one soul finds himself in the midst of a war, in a Japan that is very unfamiliar to him.
This character, Ryoku, came about as an idea along the lines of what reincarnation is like in Inu-Yasha. What if the soul of a previous Hiten master was reborn in the body of a Shinsengumi member, and then awoke after being 'killed' by Battousai? Since this master would have been from an even earlier time in Japan's history, imagine his confusion!
Just a thought!
(And besides, who doesn't love a good, hurt bishonen?)
