Very cute, you have magic hands I tell you. The shine on the coat I just adore and all the little bits of detail. This is truly amazing, I bet nobody could say anything bad about this picture, even if they were world wide royal artists. Add a frame on that picture and it could make it into a gallary, no doubt. Very adorable! *0* Your watercolor skill just shines through! What type of dog is Riley?I love the fine detail of the fur here! Did you use a really thin brush to get it like that, or do you leave the shine area in the fur uncolored? ;o

Thanks very much! She's a pure Pembroke Welsh Corgi, and she's an absolute doll. For this painting, I did a very light wash over each area, then slowly built up the colors with a medium sized round brush. The quality of the brush makes a HUGE difference, I used a synthetic/sable blend. The technique is very simple, a small amount of liquid (almost dry brushing) with a flattened tip, I kind of "zigzagged" the brush doing small chunks at a time opposed to doing individual hairs. The original is 4"x5" and is 100% watercolor, except the whiskers which were scratched with a razor. Hope this answers your question!
