Oh, Yu Yu Hakusho.  What fondness I have for your Shinto-based creatures, your tendency to veer into dark places (for shonen titles, anyway), and your fascinating protagonists.  Kurama and Hiei, in particular, draw me in.  The latter because of his tragic backstory, acid tongue, and fierceness in and out of battle, and the former because...well, foxes are the crafty sort, are they not?

Ahem...pardon my fangirling.  Kurama was a pretty big crush in my teen years, for obvious reasons.  Here he is pictured with Maaya Kitajima, a girl featured in a side story about Kurama and Hiei's first encounter and the formation of their partnership.  Maaya harbored not only a major crush on her classmate, Shuuichi Minamino (Kurama's human vessel) but also a strong spiritual sense (akin to Kuwabara's, now that I think about it).  It was a shame not to see this character expanded on; she seemed kind of interesting.
Also, Balloon Head Syndrome definitely applies here.
