Robin by Saltwater
Robin by Saltwater

Painted in watercolours on paper.

Watercolours: Sennelier
Paper: Gerstaecker watercolour paper "aquarell" natural white 200g/m2
Small artwork:  18 x 18 cm

Robins are often found on Christmas cards in Britain.

These lovely red-breasted birds have traditionally been the messengers of joy and happiness in England since the nineteenth century.

This robin will be the central element of a Christmas card that I designed for TeeJay87.

Jadisbeautiful painting. Makes me want to paint.. Such a cute bird. I visited England once and was surprised to learn that in England a robin is a very different type of bird than what we call a robin here in Kansas

Yes, you are right. They are very different in size, weight and shape.

The American robin is tall with long legs and a black head.

The English robin is much smaller, but with brighter colours.
His shape is like an egg, and he has a round little tummy.

TeeJay87I've received your postcard with that robin and I didn't know about symbolism standing behind them.

Kindly thank you for such a lovely gift !

I am so glad that you like it.

Actually there is much more about the robin's symbolism...
but I wanted to post the artwork ASAP ;-)
will post the symbolism details later.
